NO. 5 SOONERS SWEEP MINOT STATE
OKLAHOMA HOSTS D2 ST. CLOUD STATE THIS WEEKEND

THIS WEEK’S GAMES - The University of Oklahoma® hockey club (28-4-0) host a pair of games this weekend against the D2 Huskies from St. Cloud State University (12-15-3). Game time at the Blazers Ice Centre on Friday is at 7:30 P.M. The second game of the series will be played on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. Oklahoma is 2-0-0 all-time against St. Cloud State.

LAST WEEK’S OU HOCKEY GAMES – Oklahoma swept a pair of games from unranked Minot State (19-12-0) twice this past weekend. On Friday night, the two teams were tied at the end of 65 minutes of hockey and proceeded to a shootout to decide the game. The exciting shootout was the third for OU this season but the first at home. Doug Gebbie and Michael Gray scored for the Sooners in the shootout while Ryan Anderson stopped 4 of 5 Minot State shooters to win the game 5-4. On Sunday afternoon, the Sooners scored the first six goals of the contest as they cruised their way to a dominating 6-1 win over the Beavers.

RANKINGS AND NATIONALS – The Sooners are currently ranked 5th in the most recent ACHA Coaches Division 1 ranking and are slated to go to the 2006-2007 ACHA Division 1 National Championship Tournament as the 5th seed. The 2006-2007 ACHA Division 1 National Championship Tournament will be hosted by Kent State University and take place February 28 - March 4, 2007 at the Ice Zone in Youngstown, OH. Oklahoma will face the No. 12 University of Delaware Blue Hens in its first game of the tournament on Wednesday, February 28, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. EST. Ticket information for the 2007 ACHA D1 Nationals as well as a link to the Nationals website detailing all 16 teams and the first round matches can be found at www.ouhockey.com or www.icehockey.ou.edu. For those fans of Sooners Hockey that can’t travel to Ohio, don’t despair. For the first time in ACHA history, the entire 2007 ACHA D1 Nationals will be webcast live. The webcast will include both and audio and video live over the internet. The ACHA D1 Nationals coverage will kick off with 8 games on Wednesday, February 28, and will conclude with the 2007 ACHA Division 1 National Championship Game on Sunday, March 4. All 19 games of the 2007 ACHA D1 Nationals are scheduled to webcast live and will be made available to Sooners Hockey fans via www.ouhockey.com and www.icehockey.ou.edu.

SKATE WITH THE SOONERS – Skate with the Sooners after the game on Friday night for only $2.00. All OU Hockey players will be available for autographs, photographs and lively conversation on the ice.

SENIOR NIGHT – Saturday’s game will be the last for OU Hockey seniors Aaron Schmeilski, Justin Hall, Danny Force, John Leighty, Michael Gray, Kevin Kennedy and Tom Schaul. There will be a short ceremony between the first and second periods on Saturday evening to acknowledge OU Hockey’s seven seniors.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES – The Huskies are an ACHA D2 team that plays in the Western Collegiate Club Hockey Association D2 league. St. Cloud last played two weeks ago when they beat Minnesota State-Mankato 6-3 and Minnesota 10-4. The Huskies won their games last weekend against Northern Michigan by forfeit. St. Cloud is led in scoring by forward Tom Housh who has 19 goals and 23 assists for a total of 42 points. Housh is followed by Kyle Honsey (14-27-41), Brady Sharstrom (15-5-20), Keith Riley (7-10-17) and Danny Heinzmann (7-10-17). Goaltenders Daren Grover (3.19 GAA), Nick Krowgowski (6.46) and Chris Dorscher (4.52) have all shared duties in net for St. Cloud this season.

SOONERS HOME GAMES ON THE AIR – All 2006-2007 OU Hockey home games will be broadcast over the internet this season. Caleb Fox, a senior from Rowlett, Texas, returns to call his second season of play-by-play action for the Sooners. Color commentator Keaton Fuchs, a senior from Norman, also returns this season and welcomes producer Jared Richardson, a senior from Spokane, Washington, to the broadcast as they bring you all the hard-hitting, fast-paced Sooners Hockey action over the internet throughout the remainder of the season. The OU Hockey broadcast begins 15 minutes prior to face-off. Fans can listen to the OU Hockey internet broadcast by going to either www.icehockey.ou.edu or www.ouhockey.com and clicking the BROADCAST link.

TICKETS – Individual tickets for the remaining OU Hockey home games are on sale now and can be purchased at Blazers Ice Centre, 8000 South I-35, in Oklahoma City. Call 631-3307 or 631-2709 for additional information.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE – The Sooners practice this week at the Blazers Ice Centre on Monday and Wednesday from 4:30-6:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 8:45-10:30 P.M.
