OKLAHOMA 6, MINOT STATE 1

The No. 5-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club took advantage of a tired Minot State University club Sunday afternoon, dominating the game in workmanlike manner to post a 6-1 win over the Beavers. The Sooners struck first when Adrian Borchgrevink score on the power play at 2:28 of the first period to give OU a 1-0 lead. In the second period, Owen Brewer scored at 1:11 of the period to give the Sooners a two-goal advantage. After a major penalty was assessed against Minot late in the second, Doug Gebbie cashed in with a power play goal just 35 seconds from the end of the period to give OU an 3-0 lead. The third period saw Justin Hall score OU’s third power play goal of the evening at 3:38 to make the score 4-0. Danny Force and Keith Denton added even-strength goals in the third to give OU a huge six goal lead before Minot finally got on the board late in the period to make tonight’s final 6-1.

Sooners’ goaltender Ryan Anderson stopped 8 of the 9 MSU shots he faced on the evening while his counterpart, Minot State’s Brett Thomas, officially made 24 saves on 30 shots. OU was 3 for 8 on the power play while Minot was 0 for 6 with the man advantage.

The win improves OU’s record to 28-4-0 while Minot State drops to 19-12-0. The Sooners face St. Cloud State on Friday, February 23rd at Blazers Ice Centre in Oklahoma City at 7:30 P.M.
