Seeing that car finish the race by crossing the finish line up-side-down and on fire was awesome!!

It was the Jack Daniels car! LOL!

Dear Kelly Clarkson

thanks for your performance at todays Daytona 500.....a fashion note though, your shoulder blades are bigger than your boobs, so those backless outfits do NOT look good

exciting finish, I had hoped Mark Martin would finally get his win....

Roger on the Kelly Clarkson bit. I couldn't wait for that to be over.

Darrell Waltrip said, regarding the car crossing the finish line upside down and on fire that Joey Chitwood couldn't even pull that off.

Heh. At least dude finished the race and got his payday.

How did the Toyotas do in the race?

How did the Toyotas do in the race?
They weren't much of a factor, but considering the driving talent in them, I think that is to be expected. A faded Dale Jarrett, medicore Waltrip, slightly more medicore Dave Blaney, and a 37 year old rookie aren't going to make much noise most Sunday's. Jarrett's the only shot Toyota has at winning a race this year unless Vickers and Richert click fast, or Mayfield catches lightning in a bottle. Keeping teams in the top 35 will have to be Toyota's most urgent concern.

I think it's very cool that Jack Daniels car is "old number 7." I wonder what Jack Daniels 01 thru 06 tasted like?

...also, WTF don't we have a NASCAR venue in Oklahoma? Being all centrally located and home to so many hillbillies, you would think we'd be a natural choice.

****, you could put a track in the middle of nowhere and if it was NASCAR, you could count on a sell out.

No kiddin' Doc. As exhibit A, I offer the now defunct Rockingham -- which was miles out in the stix in the NC boonies. What killed it was there was just a two lane highway in and a two lane highway out.

Also Darlington in SC. Hicksville but well served by traffic arteries.

IMHO, if we built one near OKC, folks would come and the highway infrastructure could support it.

Homey - in my NC days I went to a race in Rockingham. A year or so later I went to one in North Wilkesboro. That actually was a two lane road in and out. The bleachers were like a small HS football field. Traffic was awful with the hillbillies all trying to get out.

Seattle and NYC will be the next two places to get tracks. NASCAR is pushing to get into big media markets, which is why the Rockingham's and North Wilkesboro have been shuttered. NASCAR really has no interest in adding new tracks to Southern or quasi-Southern States, and the best a track in Oklahoma could hope for is a stand alone Busch or trucks race like Nashville, Memphis, and Kentucky got.

On race weekends here, Bristol, TN is huge. 160,000 seat stadium with people camped out all over the place. No matter how big they get, NASCAR will respect their hillbilly and bootlegger roots.

A NASCAR race is one of the only remaining venues where it's perfectly acceptable to sport a Confederate flag.

There will be a culture war brewing before long as the Jesse Jacksons, Juan Carlos Formula One's and other Diversity Hounds sieze on the money prevalent in the sport.

I'm not saying any of it is particularly right, wrong, worthy, etc. Just that it's coming.

Being a big NASCAR fan and even a bigger 07 fan (See link for pic of mine and soonersweetie's truck) I was really worried about Clint at the end. Glad he made it out fine.

Yeah, and if all else fails I'm sure Devon and Chesapeake would just buy up the extras. :D

Here ya go: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p99/cjrogue/4051.jpg And you should check out Bonnaroo this year. Manchester is right nearby Lynchburg and I hear the tours are great even though the distillery is in a dry town/dry county area.

VeeJay, you managed to put the words "before" and "after" next to each other and I understood what you meant. You win the boobie prize for today.
Unfortunately, we're all out of boobie prizes so we'll just promise to carve your name on a nice plaque....someday.

LOL, No. Just part of a display table when I show the truck (When I am not out racing it someplace). I bring out s few of the Single Barrel bottles from the various races and the diecast cars. Amazing how many friends I could have if I opened those bottles at the shows. Over 15 bottles and I cannot open one. All collectors. The entire 2005 series probably goes for about 2,000.00 on up.
