This question came in part beacuse of a history channel show on George Washington Carver who graduated from ISU.It also came about because UT fans always bragging about famous former Horns. All I can think of are actors Dennis weaver,James Garner,Ed Harris.I know we nust have some scientists, astronauts, national leaders, business leaders and so forth from OU ,don't we?

That list includes E.K. Gaylord but on his site it says he graduated from Stanford and the Harvard Business School. Does he get alum status because he gives stacks of cash to OU? What gives?

Hmm, if you follow the link off of EK Gaylord on that list, it actually links to Edward Lewis Gaylord. Methinks they're not the same person. EL is the son of EK, iirc.

And based on EK's birthdate, I would be suprised if he was an OU Alum. There aren't too many OU alumns born in the 1870s.

The Inasmuch Foundation, based in Oklahoma, was established in 1982 by the late Edith Kinney Gaylord to support charitable and educational projects. Gaylord, who was a respected and accomplished journalist, attended Colorado College as a member of the class of 1936 and served as a trustee for 24 years. Her father, E.K. Gaylord, was a member of the class of 1897 and was a long-time trustee and generous benefactor to the college. The Inasmuch Foundation gives to projects that reflect the vision of its founder in the areas of education, health and human services, arts and culture, historic preservation and environmental concerns.

That's in reference to Colorado College, and seems to match the timeline.

Alright, modified the wiki link to at least point to the right person, and note the questionable nature of his alumni status.

Oh, and after following a couple of links. I found this, and it is teh awesome:

"...they said that I had sold out and Uncle Tom. And I said well, they deserve to have that view. But I have my thoughts. And I think they're race-hustling poverty pimps."

J.C. Watts, Jr. speaking on Hannity and Colmes about his refusal to join the Congressional Black Caucus.

James Garner never actually attended OU, if I recall correctly, though he's closely associated since he grew up in Norman.

Attended OU for one semester after returning home to Norman from seving in the Merchant Marine. He then left OU to move to California.
