SETTING THE STAGE: Oklahoma faces Minot State in the second of two games between the teams this weekend…Oklahoma beat Minot State in a shootout 5-4 on Friday night...Oklahoma has won its last four games and is ranked 5th in the ACHA D1 poll…Minot State has lost its last three games and would be 24th in the ACHA D1 poll if the rankings were extended that far.
OKLAHOMA NOTES: The Sooners received goals in regulation on Friday from Keith Denton, Adrian Borchgrevink, Kyle Allan and Phil Ritter…Michael Gray had the game-winner for OU on Friday in the shootout…The goals by Denton and Borchgrevink were short-handed goals scored while OU was killing the same penalty…Sooners goaltender Ryan Anderson stopped 27 of 31 shots during Friday’s game and four of five Minot State scoring attempts in the shootout…Oklahoma has been in three shootouts this season, winning all three games…The Sooners are 3-0-0 all-time in games played on Sundays and 1-0-0 in Sunday afternoon games at home.
MINOT STATE NOTES: Each of Minot State’s top four scorers, Wade Regier, Trevor Popowich, Jarod Eagles and Andrew Figueira, scored a goal in the Friday game against OU…Goaltender Brett Thomas stopped 25 of 29 shots from OU Friday night but only 2 of the 4 Sooners shooters in the shootout…In Minot State’s game on Saturday in Edmond against Central Oklahoma, four Minot State players and head coach Bernie Lynch were assessed game disqualification penalties and are presumed ineligible for today’s game with OU.
