I had to stop myself from titling the thread "Hey Froze!" again. :O

Anyway, to continue the once-in-a-while shaving geekery on here, I found these guys:

http://badgerandblade.com/vb/index.php

These guys are obsessive about shaving. I mean crazy like Alton Brown is about food. They've probably already answered about any question a guy could have.

Oh, and on the upside, one of the guys there runs a website that'll sell a full starter kit - pre-honed straight razor, strop, brush, mug, soap, etc. - for about $140. Not a bad price for all that.

And yes, this could've been a PEEM, but I thought someone else around here might find it useful.

When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds — pretty standard, really. At the age of 12, I received my first scribe. At the age of 14, a Zoroastrian named Wilma ritualistically shaved my testicles — there really is nothing like a shorn scrotum — it's quite breathtaking... I suggest you try it.

Really, try it:D

At first, I thought this thread was about shaving the boys and then I got to the straight razor part and it freaked me out. I went to the website and it was all cool and useful and then Mongo's post, I'm really freaked out again.

Heh. No way in hell would any sane person let a straight razor down there.

I think it is an NBA commercial with that dude getting that shave in a barber shop. The barber is watching the "shot clock" and doing "3 Stooges" style of shaving. It makes me sick.

I have always wanted to try a blade like that cause the new multi blades filet my neck.

Heh, that commercial makes me laugh. That HAS to be a rubber blade.

Well, I haven't gone to a straight razor yet, but I did switch to one of the old-school double-edge safety razors. I get a MUCH closer shave with less irritation than I ever got with an electric or a Mach 3. Also, switching to a brush and a high-quality soap (or cream) instead of "goo in a can" made a BIG difference, too.

the best part? A cake of shaving soap is about $5. double-edge razor blades are 50 cents each. That's a lot better in the long run than $3+ multi-blade cartridges.

My SIL is a pimp for arbonne(sp). The shaving creams are the best I have ever had. I am thinking the Quattro I use is turning my lower neck into hamburger.

Thanks man, I'll check that out.

I get a good shave off the Fusion, but the badger brush definitely helps. I think I want to buy one of those shaving cream warmers.

Honestly, I don't want to get too personal here...

But has anyone honestly tried the shorn scrotum?
I haven't; I'm just asking.

I'll probably try that one of these days - I just don't feel like dropping the cash on a decent razor and a good strop right now.

ain't unusual for bicyclists to shave legs... and while at it to go for manscaping.

One's mate may well find it interesting enough to investigate and, um, otherwise perform Great Feats of appreciation. s'what I hear, anyways.
