There's no way I would judge anyone for consentual sex with an able-minded adult.

Would I enable a friend to commit adultry? Probably.

Maybe, this was the jolt that his marriage needed. Maybe, it could be guilt or he picked up a few tricks that helped the marriage out. Or, mabe he picked up a few diseases. Or, maybe he's wised up and finally realizes that the marriage won't work. Who knows?

Getting some on the side is also exciting. Making it more exciting at home is the trick. Role playing, dressing up, putting some effort into it. People just need to use more imagination.
