we have the scariest garage ever. I was thinking about tearing it down and rebuilding before, now it's definite. The garage wasn't figured in our appraisal or price on the house (because those old detached garages are such piles of crap usually) so we hadn't paid too much attention to it (actually, never went into it).

anyway, yesterday at closing, the previous owner kept calling it a garage apartment and I couldn't figure out why because it obviously was just a 2 car garage.

well, we got into it today. it's a smallish garage, and there is an apartment on the back. a door, a 4'x4' bathroom, a kitchen sink/stove and a ladder to a loft over the parking area. totally uninhabitable (except by stray cats I'm guessing from the smell). looks like the last person who lived there was an OCU law student, because there are tons of old law books (Homey, you want em?)

definitely coming down and going back with a 3 car, 1.5 car deep garage. the only thing that sucks is that some jackass thought it would be a good idea to run the electrical service for the house through the garage, so the meter is on the back wall and the gas meter is in one of the parking spaces (jackasses)
