you are here as a guest (looking into having a wedding reception). therefore, you need to look presentable. first - tuurn your hat around so that the bill faces OUT. you are not 10 years old, nor are you riding a bike. second - TAKE YOUR F-ING HAT OFF!!!!! you're inside at a private golf club. look like you belong here. wanker.

no man above 15 should wear a hat backwards... unless you're riding a bike.

NO! Fight the man!

Wear your hat backwards. It shows that you are not in league with the devil.

Golf is the satan spawn sport.

Seriously, if Satan were to play sports, what would he play?

GOLF, of course!

No doubt about that. Selfish, cruel, evil, exclusive to rich and wasteful and destructive to the environment.

Golf is just devil worship. Wear your hat backwards, always! People can see you don't have 666 stamped on your forehead!!!!

I really hope you're kidding.

Actually not. I have picketted golf course openings and I will continue to do so.

Maybe you are not aware of how destructive and divisive this issue is in third-world countries.

Bangkok has more than 100 golf courses. And, these golf courses not only took land away from farmers, but continue to steal an unjustified amout of public water.

Irrigation for one acre of golf can be used to grow 10 acres of rice.

These golf courses are club only and only for the very rich and foreigners.

There is very little economic value gained in attracting golf tourism. Sponsors of golf should be ashamed.

Then, there are the pesticides and fertilizers used and discharged into the water system that pollutes and contaminates.

If you like hitting a ball into a hole, try putt-putt golf. Otherwise, it is just selfish use of natural resources.

We are just looking at it from different perspectives.

Probably if you'd see some of the destruction caused in third world countries and the benefits totally denied to common everyday people (surely different than you and your friends).

From an Oklahoma perspective and as a farmer, I am alarmed at how quickly the water table is falling. Water wells that were dug more than 100 years ago on my family's farm have now gone dry.

People make fun of global warming. There may be some truth in it or not. Still, the key is to secure water resources and golf shouldn't be high on priority list, regardless of the short-term benefits.

picasso

Okay, sorry about the devil spawn crap and I WAS just joking.

There are eco-friendly golf courses, as has been repeatedly pointed out to me on this message board. I just think that people need to think and be aware that the greener greens aren't necessarily the golf ultimate.

Now, see this is the way that political discussion should go. We have different views and perspectives and we listen to each other and agree to part ways amicably. The shoe stuff was just for silliness sake.

As far as third worlds, it is more complicated as far as Thailand is concerned. The massive building of golf courses all over Thailand in the 1990s, especially around Bangkok, forced the Bank of Thailand to issue an edict that all commercial banks must stop lending to golf courses immediately.

Can you imagine the US Federal Reserve calling all banks in the US in to tell them that they've lent their last dollar to golf course development?

In Thailand, that rule was eventually relaxed, but the damage was already done.

Okay, that's third world.
