SETTING THE STAGE: Oklahoma faces Minot State in the first of two games between the teams this weekend…These games will be the first meetings between the two teams…Oklahoma swept No. 20 Arizona last weekend by scores of 5-1 and 8-2… Oklahoma is ranked 5th in the latest ACHA D1 Coaches poll and has qualified for the 2007 ACHA D1 National Championship Tournament…Minot State is not in the Top 20 but would be ranked 24th if the most recent rankings were extended that far…Minot State came to Oklahoma on a 13-game winning streak but that streak came to an end last night as the Beavers lost a close one 5-4 at Central Oklahoma.

GREEK NIGHT AT OU HOCKEY: All OU students who wear their Greek letters get in to the OU Hockey game tonight for only $3.00…In addition, those students showing their Greek pride will be eligible to be selected for intermission contests and the chance to win some great OU Hockey swag.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: Sooners forward Adrian Borchgrevink leads the Sooners in goals with 23 and total points with 40…OU forward Doug Gebbie is second on the team in goals with 16…Owen Brewer (10-25-35), Gebbie (16-15-31), Luke Rose (14-10-24) and Justin Hall (15-9-24) follow Borchgrevink in terms of points…Oklahoma goaltender Aaron Schmeilski has a record of 16-3-0 with a 2.03 GAA and a .924 save percentage…The Oklahoma power play this season has scored 67 goals in 289 chances for a 23.2% success rate…The Sooners are 40-15-3 all-time in games played on Fridays and 27-7-1 in Friday night games at home…OU forward Kevin Kennedy (12-8-20) is expected back in the Sooners’ lineup this weekend after recovering from an injury sustained in the Iowa State series…Sooners defenseman Robert Hetrick (8-13-21), also injured against Iowa State, will not play this weekend.

MINOT STATE NOTES: Minot has one of the better winning percentages in ACHA D1 hockey yet is unranked and will not qualify for Nationals…Twenty-one of the 25 players on the Minot State are Canadians…Minot State is led in scoring by forward Wade Regier who has 15 goals and 15 assists for a total of 30 points…Regier is followed by forward Trevor Popowich (16-11-27), forward Jarod Eagles (10-13-23) and forward Andrew Figueira (8-15-23)…Goaltenders Steve Norris (3.17 GAA) and Brett Thomas (2.63) are Minot State’s main goaltenders this season…In last night’s game in Edmond, Minot State gave up five quick goals in the first period but showed a lot of heart as they dominated play throughout the rest of the game, almost tying the game before time ran out.
