Peanut butter tainted with salmonella bacteria has sickened 11 Oklahoma residents, public health authorities reported today.

We ended up with a 20 oz. jar of that Peter Pan. It was in the house for days before we even opened it. I finally made myself a peanut butter sandwich with it a couple of days ago. I felt real queezy, had a head ache the next day and cancelled our plans for dinner and a movie with friends. I thought I was coming down with the flu so I started taking lots of vitamin C, Airborne and oscillococcinum. My husband ate half a jar of it but felt just fine. That man must have a cast iron stomach.

Who in the hell buys Peter Pan peanut butter anyhow? Everybody knows you should eat extra-crunch Jif. I think this has been voted into law.

And an aside - only flaming homosexuals eat smooth peanut butter.

it didn't bother me, who knows if mine was actually tainted...

i doubt much could survive my capsaicin addiction though

My wife buys the cheap crap peanut butter and guess what, we have a winner in the contaminated peanut butter contest. We had to throw ours out as well. Thank God! Maybe I will get Jif next time!

after the "scare" rolls over, seems like a green light to buy Great Value instead of Peter Pan for less $, since they are apparently the same.

now, I'm partially with Dean. smooth PB is dumb and especially smooth PB with sugar (Peter Pan, and prolly Jif). no sugar in yer PB, that's honey is for.

We have a jar of it too. Funny thing is the wife got sick the other night. up all night throwing up ( hell i could hardly sleep with all the noise she was making), any way she ate some 2111 PB that night. I have eaten alot of it and had no problems. We were trying to figure out what caused it, because we both had the same thing that night. we thought she just caught a 24 hour bug. I guess I could send in the lid and get a new jar and have her test it again.

wouldn't have to get a new jar--they'll just give you a refund

We had both crunchy and smooth with 2111 on them. Unlike Dean, I don't get too involved in the grocery shopping, so we'll probably have Peter Pan in the future.

Three of our kids in school had appointments to decide if the PB is what has been making them ill.
And I love the Dr and family who have already filed a lawsuit. <sigh>

i just realized we have a jar of the dreaded 2111 PB... I dont' know how long ago we bought the stuff, but i dont' remember buying it anytime in the past year. plus, it's half gone and we almost never eat peanut butter.

seriously, what the hell?

i stopped liking crunchy peanut butter the day after the orthodontist put braces on my teeth

we tossed out a jar, had just opened it for toast one morning....

Baja - i think the Dr is suing them because they knew about this months ago and didnt do anything until the recall

if thats what the lawsuit is for, then i'd have to agree with them
