I saw this on another message board:
We get a list of people who want to be involved. I send the first person an mp3 to start it off. They use that song to pick the next song, which they send back to me in MP3 format. Then I take the song they send back to me and send it (and only it) to the next person on the list. We keep going until we come up with 70 or so minutes of music. Nobody talks about their picks on the board, nobody knows any of the songs except the song before theirs and the song that they picked.

When it's all said and done, we put some fancy artwork together for the cover and start again.

Anyone interested?

We should probably figure out some ground rules to make sure there is no crappy music (intentionally crappy) or maybe we do one in a certain genre, then the next mix is a different genre.

Anyway, anyone in?

sounds like a good idea to me.... i don't like the "one genre" idea. if people agreed to pick songs they actually like and not crappy songs on purpose, sounds cool.

ok, 15 is going to be the magic number. The first 15 to PM me with their e-mail address will be in on this first trial mix. 15 will probably go over the 75 minute mark, but I also believe we'll get some obvious stinkers from people trying to be funny that will get thrown out.

I agree with PG. The nice thing about a mixtape is that it can be all over the map, just everyone try to use the song you get from me in deciding your song in some way. It'll create a cohesive mix and it will be neat to see how the "theme" or whatever progresses from song to song.

I'm kind of hoping that by knowing the song before you and using it in your selection, there will be an underlying theme or a theme that transforms through the album. might go down in flames and if it does, I do think you have a good idea of assigning the theme.

in the original bet, that was one of the terms

Technically, he is supposed to post NO LESS than twice a day for 1 month, and if there is a grammatical or spelling error, or any cussin' (******) he is in "VIOLATION!"

He would then "owe" $200.00

I told him today, not to worry about it, because I just took a new job, and I haven't been able to get on here at all in the last couple of weeks - nor will I be able to much after this here post. At any rate, he said he was "A man of his werd", so no posting for him, but as I stated, he would technically be in violation, if he didn't post.

SSSSOOOOO - please keep an eye on him for me! (finder's fee is normally 10%) :D

Unfortunately, the little fellar has a case of the forgotsies, and doesn't remember that being part of the original bet. We posted back and forth to each other before the playoffs to get the bet "straight". Unfortunately, we were both pretty drunk when it was made, and we both claimed to have the same teams in the playoffs. (The ORIGINAL bet came from Dole mouthing off about the Ravens - He told me that they would win. I said no - he said I'll take Baltimore, and you can have the field - $100.00. I said ok. A few moments later, he came to his senses - we both ended up taking 3 teams, and that's where the confusion came from.) At any rate, we finally came to an agreement (Indy-me - Chicago-him).
