For me the choice is easy:The Shootist starring John Wane and Jimmy Stewart.For those too young to recall ,It was Waynes' last movie,t was about an aging gunfighter or Shootist dying of cancer.Fittingly it was made while the Duke himself was losing his battle with cancer.IMHO Duke saved his very best for last.

Two movies that apperred on several lists that I really enjoyed were Shawshank Redemption and Tombstone.What appeals to me most about Shawahank is that it is a don't give up movie.At least that is what I took away with meafter the movie.No matter how bad things are IF you hang in there you can make it beeter.

All these movies are great. But my favorite?

Personally, I think "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is the perfect movie. Fantastic action scenes, strong plotting, great characters, great lines, the ending is picture perfect....no real weaknesses in it.

Raiders is a great movie, but I had to move it down my list a bit after watching it a year or so ago and noticing that the fight choreography was flipping awful. Keep an eye on what Marion is doing in the background during Indy's fight scene in the bazaar-she's just got a box and looks like she's doing some kind of weird aerobic exercise with it, just swinging it up and down nowhere near anyone.

I enjoy the hell out of that flick, but I crack up every time I see that scene.

that's a pretty good choice, there are probably 10 french post-war "new wave" film noir gangster flicks based in some way off that Huston classic.

this is an impossible question, but i'll say Hiroshi Teshigahara's "Rikyu"/"Princess Goh" series or Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev. hard to argue with the Seven Samurai, though. i saw the SS a couple years ago on a big screen at a local film series, and it RULED.

Blazing Saddles on HBO changed my life, though.
