Well, Minnesotans have shown they will elect damn near anyone, so he probably has a shot.

He's no worse than a lot of them who are already senators. And, the Senate could some more Jewish commies, to get things even crazier than they are now.

Far be it for me to speak for all of Minnesota... but he has no shot. Even with this last round of "turn the tide" elections with Dems sweeping just about everything we re-elected Republican Governor Paulenty. And the arch-liberal Democratic Senator seat was taken by Amy Klobuchar, which was really no surprise as her seat was the one held by hippie pork-barreler socialist Wellstone. Otherwise, moderate Republican Norm Coleman is viewed as having the other Senate seat in lockdown.

If Mr. Franken wants to go to Washington he'll have to do it as a Congressman, not a Senator. And even then he'll probably have to unseat another Democrat to do so. While Minnesota is majority DFL (Democratic Farm and Labor... even sounds communistic, doesn't it?) and most certainly votes that way Presidentially, Republican "pockets" are fiercely defended, and voters as a whole will tend to favor innovation or originality in their candidates (hence, Jesse Ventura, who actually was very conservative on most of the issues.)

Franken's a gadfly, nothing more...

my biggest problem with Franken aside from his politics is that he doesn't criticize his own. neither party is perfect and especially those representing them.

He's criticized the dems more times than I can mention. Read Rush Limbaugh's a big fat idiot. He tears up Clinton (Bill and Hill) and dems in general for disorganization and incompetence. Now, he does bag on Rush and Newt and other R's more, but definately not entirely.

I didn't know that. I'm just going by what I see him say on the tellie, which has the most power.

And that's surprising about his criticizing Clinton. I thought they were tight.

ahh, but sir, he isn't one of those psuedo-Canadians that are American wannabes like Jim Carrey, Celine Dion, William Shatner...he like the great Don Cherry revels in being a Canadian and bringing Canadian entertainment to Canadians.

Yeah, that book was about 10 years ago, so for all I know, he's changed a little since then. As far as ripping Clinton, he critiqued Bill the same way he critiqued Newt.....comedic.
