View Full Version : Boycott Valentines Day

That's right.. I'm urging a bold, new front here. BOYCOTT VALENTINES DAY!

No flowers... no cards.. no going to an already expensive restaurant only to have them JACK up their prices 300%.

No jewelry.

A simple, "I care for you and would never cheapen my feelings for you by kowtowing to the whims of florists and greeting card companies who must fill a slow time of the year for them by inventing a holiday."

Who's WITH ME?!!!!!!

Lid was trying to make sense, even though he is talking out of his arse because we all know that he already has purchsed two dozen reds at $65 each and has a reservation at The Mansion tonight.

Nah. Just kidding. Moped riders are not gay, they're just weird.

WTF is the difference between a moped and a scooter?

BigRedJed
2/14/2007, 07:26 PM
Mopeds have pedals, most obviously. A moped is a motorized bicycle, and is typically really underpowered. More like a motor assist on a bicycle.

Scooters originated in Italy post-WWII, and were based on airplane design and technology. In fact, Piaggio (Vespa) was an airplane manufacturer, which no longer had a war-time market for its planes. Also, Italians needed an inexpensive way to get around in a country where the infrastructure was blown to hell. They have step-through frames, the engine is located in a fixed position on the rear wheel (no chain), and many, many of them go balls-out fast.

Also, they are typically pretty stylish (the Italians being known for their design chops). These days, there are quite a few brands also built in Asia, but Vespas (new and vintage) and Lambrettas (vintage) are still the gold standard.

Since it's that time of year again, who is once again, with me this year, to boycott this insidious, corporate created Holiday????

Better yet... even a better idea this year!

Since Hallmark and the flower, chocolate and jewelry companies perpetuate this event, I'll go one better,

True love means, and in fact, you really won't really, REALLY love your "significant other," unless you send $100 to the attorney of your choice.. preferably me, to show that you are financially stable and can afford your wife/girlfriend/significant other and the lifestyle in which she wishes to become accustomed!

In response, you will receive a beautiful one page acknowledgement and "proof of love" sent to either you, or your significant other, acknowledging your commitment and love to her.

Now.. get busy and get those C-Notes rolling !
