ok, so with our closing looming:
I have a white fridge.
The house we're buying has black jenn-air appliances

What color should I go with?

With the walls that dark, I'd go stainless. A black fridge would be too much.

I looked at all of the pics you had. Awesome house.

Stainless is cool looking, but cold. Black always works for me.

Do they still make **** brown/yellow ones like they did in the late 70's? If they do that's what you should get.

silver would look good but you said you already have some black in there.

it might be more cost effective to go black but silver would look the best. I predict however that once you go black, you'll never go back.

What are your plans for the kitchen?
Redoing the walls or keeping them?
Replacing the appliances or keeping them?

While stainless looks good in magazines, I hate the cleaning. It is very popular right now.
What do you like best - that's the important point?

I have a white one but while I was in the Sears the other day, I saw a nice Kenmore thats brushed stainless. The saleman said its easy to clean and doesn't smudge much at all.

Can I change mine? I missed the black part in reference to the existing jenn-air appliances.

Do you plan on changing the other appliances any time soon? If not, I may change my answer to black. We just got a new fridge a few months ago, and the difference in black vs. stainless was about $300 or so.

If you can afford it, go stainless Viking.

I can't. :( All my stuff is white.

I'm an appliance racist.

I've got the hook-up, so I'll probably change all the appliances pretty quickly.

Also, from looking around a little, I think stainless is coming down in price and is pretty comparable with the other options.

Well, if you're changing soon, go stainless, though it's a little tougher to clean.

Yeah, stainless will show fingerprints and such. And it costs a bit more.

And I would DEFINITELY re-paint the kitchen walls. That's a nice color, but I wouldn't want a kitchen that dark.

I would either go stainless steel or black. I think that stainless steel would look better.

I don't think it's too dark. I would put some crown moulding up. That and some other stuff along with the stainless will make the kitchen appear bright.

Edit: Is that a friggin register in the middle of the floor???

another edit: Hang your coat up! What, were you raised in a barn?

We have replaced everything except the oven in our house. We will be doing it next with one of those smart ovens in stainless. Stainless is very nice, true it is harder to clean, but if you buy some stainless cleaner, it is a snap. Our Dishwasher is that brushed stainless Mom was mentioning, and it does not show anything.

I said the answer is black. As in, how much more black could this appliance be? The answer is none. None more black.

Most stainless appliances are black where they are not stainless. On fridges the door maybe stainless but the box itself is usually black.

Congrats on the house.

From looking at that pic, I think that house needs some foundation repair.

And did they check the floor ducts for water.....and the plen..um thing or whatever it's called?

Just askin'......
