I'm 21.8% smarter than average. I should have done better.

BigRedJed
2/13/2007, 09:06 PM
The first time I took it I got a 24. I've been retaking and retaking it, but can't get over 29. What's a perfect score?

SleestakSooner
2/13/2007, 09:10 PM
What does knowing who sang a rap song have to do with intelligence is all I want to know?

BigRedJed
2/13/2007, 09:13 PM
OK, I got it to 30. Suck it, losers!

soonerboomer93
2/13/2007, 09:22 PM
why, because you just memorized the test and looked up the ones you weren't sure about?

:D

BigRedJed

Yep. But I did it fastest!

did that bad, huh?;)I got a 29... is that good or bad? I'm in the camp that believes knowing which rapper did what is not a direct correlation to "smart or stupid."

I didn't want to brag, but you made me do it. :D

what do you have to do?

I only got a 26. It said I'm 43.9% smarter than average, but I was also carrying on a conversation wih PG while taking the test. ;)

Verdict: SMART

27 (49.4% smarter than average)

I don't know which ones I missed. Probably the rapper one, but I thought I knew the other ones.

P.S. Pb is not the "chemical name" for lead. Dumbasses.

Damn it! Right between mdklatt and jeremy. 49.3%.

Didn't realize it was timed at first, so I lost some time on the first question before I noticed the pie graph. Which I guess is its own intelligence test.

proud gonzo
2/13/2007, 11:37 PM
yeah. the test isn't so much a measure of intelligence, but of random things you know. i mean yeah, you'd be pretty stupid if you didn't know Hollywood is in California... But beer? rap? elvis?

another one that bothered me is the one that asked when Columbus landed in America.... because he didn't actually land in America.

mdklatt
2/13/2007, 11:37 PM
Heh. That bothered me as well. That's the chemical symbol.

How pathetic is it when you correct an IQ test? :O

Is Carlsberg beer brewed in Sweden? And I guess I don't really know the alcohol content of beer, but it's about 5% right?

GottaHavePride
2/13/2007, 11:39 PM
Yeah, about 5% is right - 10% is about the top end for really strong German double or triple bocks, it can be as low as 2 or 3 percent.

And I think Carlsberg is from Denmark.

mdklatt

He didn't?

I don't think he landed in 1492, but he did set sail then, and he certainly made landfall in the Americas.

Looks like jeremy has a case of the monthlies.

Though considering it's the 13th and month-end close still isn't done, your butt BETTER still be at work. ;)

Ike
2/14/2007, 12:24 AM
I got the same score as klatt...but this isn't so much an IQ test as a "do you remember random facts" test.

and he is right, the chemical symbol for lead is Pb, but thats not the chemical name. The chemical name is Lead.

bonus spek for anyone that can tell me why the symbol for lead is "Pb"

mdklatt
2/14/2007, 12:26 AM
bonus spek for anyone that can tell me why the symbol for lead is "Pb"

The Latin name for lead is "plumbum" or something like that.

Ike

The Latin name for lead is "plumbum" or something like that.
good enough. this is also the root word for plumbing as well, since roman plumbing used lead pipes.

Question: Why does that element have a wierd symbol?
Answer: Mother****ing latin, that's why. Always mother****ing latin.

****ing plumbum, aurum, argentum, natrium. Goddamn Romans, why couldn't they speak English?

Step 1: Google Image "Periodic Table"
Step 2: Find any symbol that doesn't logically follow from the name.
Step 3: It's because of mother****ing latin.

I'd really love to discover an element and name it something foul. Just because it'd make me giggle watching school boards in Kansas attempting to ban the teaching of the periodic table.

SoonerAtKU
2/14/2007, 12:51 AM
Do you have to have some sort of naming symposium when you discover an element? Do people get to vote? Or, is this more of an "I claim this configuration for Spain" thing?

Clearly, some German screwed up his Latin somewhere. (I WILL NOT BE DISSUADED BY FACTS! GIVE IT UP!)

unfortunately, all elements now have a naming convention, even the undiscovered ones.... So there will be no more "californiums"

Yeah, but with CoitusInterruptium, we've successfully implied:

1. Unprotected Sex.
2. Birth Control.
3. Facials. (or on other parts, anyway)

Am I missing anything here? All in a 18 letter name. :D

I think mercury's symbol is the best, since "hydrargyrum" is Greek (made Latinish, of course) for "silver water" which is a pretty good description of mercury. Except that it's not as valuable. And will drive you insane.
