How did we do relative to other big 12 teams?

Rhino

As high as second (Texas) and as low as third (Nebraska), depending on how you look at it.

Was that before or after they found out about Broyles?

Right there is exactly what's wrong wit recruiting rankings.

One source (Rivals) had A&M at 42. We're 14th. That's waaaaay too big of a gap for there to be this much of a discrepancy in rank.

How do you look at it Rhino? We're neck and neck with Nebraska. But it doesn't really matter, we filled our needs and got some impact guys at positions we needed them. Filled our MLB gap, got a couple other LBs for depth next year, a young QB, five OLs and some young, athletic DEs.

I don't see how OUr 2007 recruits are gonna get recruiting nerd sites to bust one... I mean, of the few guys we signed, 5 were OL, and one was a kicker. When you sign six guys that aren't campaigning for a Heisman (figure of speech regarding QB's WR's and RB's)... people aren't going to gawk over your class.

Just think if Rhomar was still here and we didn't pick up a "skill" position player, we'd be dead last in the B12 for recruiting placeholders and benchwarmers. No offense to OL and Kickers, BTW...

Over the years I've Lost faith in recruiting rankings - Only when I see Big 12 championships does any of count - Give me 18 to 24 guys with Paul Thompson's character ,loyality and some speed and we will Win....

Still R'

We weren't going for that #1 recruiting class this year. If I remeber correctly, we had to limit recruitting to stay under the scholarship limit. We went out and filled some needs that we had, so I consider this a pretty successfull class.

All things considered, looks like some great additions.

Lost faith implies you had faith in recruiting rankings in the first place.

Will Mike Reed be ready to go this season? I can't wait to see Granger and McCoy in the trenches with our new LB corps. Our secondary should be pretty good if not great. I'm just kinda worried about our ends, John Williams looks like a badass, if he can stay healthy and Dotson can get saucy our D should be up there in the top 5 defenses in the nation.

Most of us at one point were naive enough to believe that the "experts" were Not full of 5h1t.

then along came Soonerfans.com!!! :D

Will Mike Reed be ready to go this season? Should be. The coaches think he'll be a force in the middle. He came in almost at 265, almost 20 lbs. over what they want him to be at. But they all say he's a hard worker, so he'll drop that weight soon enough.

I watched Nichol play for 3 years here in Michigan and i gurantee you all that he will be the real deal for OU. After seeing PT in the Fiesta, OUr passing game can only go one way and that will be up and Keith will do a very nice job. Throws one of the best 40-50 yard deep balls ive ever seen. game 1 starter and he will never look back!

Ranking recruits is a bunch of crap. Sure, there is probably a big difference between a class ranked "1" and "119." It is like ice skating or gymnastics - there is not that much difference between the top competitors, and some random, subjective guy arbitrarily decides that one person's triple loop was better than another's triple lutz (I have no idea what those are, btw) and then awards a medal. Whatever. You don't get trophies in February....recruit rankings are subjective, and I'm much more interested in winning a Big XII and MNC than CFN or ESPN's #1 recruit ranking.

So, with that said, our recruits are the best in the country - they had the good sense to choose OU. :D
