...this morning. I look left, into the northbound lane, and see a car wheel fly by, with no car attached. A split-second later, a Jeep missing it's left front wheel speeds by, sparks flying everywhere. Somehow, he/she managed to stop in the median, right at the concrete divider. In my rearview mirror I can see the wheel jump the divider and hit a car about 5 cars behind me. Weird morning.

On 12th street in Moore I saw a car pull out of Braum's once and lose it's wheel while turning left. It just dropped on the ground and the wheel kept going for some distance. It's kind of a bizarre thing to see. And it would take a moron not to notice a loose steering wheel. Now if something broke suddenly, that's another story.

I was kinda hoping you'd catch that wheel for me before it could do any damage. The person in that car is p*ssed.

Stopping a Jeep tire rolling at 50 mph is a "weekend-only" hobby for me. I had to get to work.

that's nothing.

Saturday night in Tulsa, an old timey Dodge truck drove through an apartment building's living room @ the 15th street exit, west boud off the BA.

we were going to Cherry street to eat dinner only to find 15th blocked off at that point.
2nd time that's happened recently.

Doc, sounds like quite a morning. I just can't imagine going southbound and being the one hit by the tire.

I had that happen on Broadway Extension near Wilshire driving to work one night. A woman in an Alfa Spider lost a wheel and slowed down enough to get next to the guardrail over Wilshire, she was pretty shaken up. A former co-worker had one cross Broadway and hit his week old Chevy pickup in the parking lot.

I lost one going to school one morning on 16th & Glade (in Bethany), I felt the back end drop out and looked in the mirror and my tire was bouncing down 16th. The axle broke, the hub and drum was still attached to the wheel.

I was driving east of I-240 to visit my parents when I came upon a car driving in the right hand lane... with no back window... no driver side door and no hood. The driver was wearing his seatbelt however...:D

Once in Tulsa on I44 I saw a vehicle pushing another vehicle bumper to bumper going ~35-40mph. Crazy...

I saw a horse trailer do that on I-35 one time. CREEPY. Sparks were higher than the trailer. it was nuts.

I used to work for a beer company and this happened to one of our reefer trucks. I was following behind the guy driving it at 4:30am on the way down to O'Connells for St. Patrick's Day. We're going south on Sooner Rd. when all of a sudden the left-rear wheel (hub and all) comes off and sparks shoot about 50 feet in the air. The truck started swerving all over the road (it was loaded down with about 50 kegs of green beer) but he was able to regain control. Needless to say, he was scared s***less.
