NO. 5 SOONERS HOST ARIZONA THIS WEEKEND
OKLAHOMA STARTS STRETCH RUN TO NATIONALS

THIS WEEK’S GAMES - The University of Oklahoma® hockey club (24-4-0) returns to action this weekend as they host a pair of games against the No. 20-ranked IceCats from the University of Arizona (13-12-0). Game time at the Blazers Ice Centre on Friday, February 9th is 7:30 P.M. and face-off on Saturday, February 10th is scheduled for 8:30 P.M. The Sooners and IceCats played a pair of games earlier this season in Tucson. Oklahoma swept both games in that series, winning by scores of 3-2 and 5-4, and improved OU’s all-time record against Arizona to 9-2-0.

LAST WEEK’S OU HOCKEY GAMES – Oklahoma did not play last weekend. The Sooners’ last games were two weeks ago when they split a road series with No. 6 Iowa State (22-9-1).

SORORITY NIGHT AT OU HOCKEY – Friday, February 9th is Sorority Night at OU Hockey. All OU students who wear their Greek sorority letters get in to the OU Hockey game against Arizona for only $3.00. In addition, those students showing their sorority pride will be eligible to be selected for intermission contests and the chance to win some great OU Hockey swag. Flyers and handouts for Sorority Night at OU Hockey will be posted and distributed on campus.

RESIDENCE HALL NIGHT AT OU HOCKEY – Saturday, February 10h is Residence Hall Night at OU Hockey. Students currently living in the OU residence halls need only flash something at the ticket booth that shows they live in either Cate, Adams, Walker or Couch and they’ll be able to get in to the OU Hockey game against Arizona for only $3.00. All “dormies” at the game will be eligible to be selected for intermission contests and the chance to win some incredible prizes from OU Hockey and one of OU Hockey’s great sponsors, Jersey Mike’s Subs in Oklahoma City. Look for more information on campus from the OU Housing Center Association as well as Residence Hall Night at OU Hockey flyers and handouts distributed and posted on campus.

RANKINGS – The Sooners are currently ranked 5th in the most recent ACHA Coaches Division 1 ranking which was released this past Friday. The next ACHA D1 ranking will be released on Friday, February 16 and will determine the 16 teams for the 2006-2007 ACHA Division 1 National Championship Tournament. The Regular Season Champions from the Central States Collegiate Hockey League, Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association, and Eastern Collegiate Hockey League will receive an automatic berth. The 2006-2007 ACHA Division 1 National Championship Tournament will be hosted by Kent State University and take place February 28 - March 4, 2007 at the Ice Zone in Youngstown, OH.

SCOUTING THE ICECATS –Coach Leo Golembiewski’s IceCats have fallen on hard times recently as they have lost five of their last eight games. Arizona was swept on the road two weeks ago by unranked Weber State and also last week by No. 17 Arizona State. Arizona is led in scoring by forward Matt Conover who has 18 goals and 29 assists for a total of 47 points. Conover is followed by forward Craig Irwin (13-19-32), forward Robbie Nowinski (14-16-30) and forward Scott Marshall (5-13-18). Goaltenders Luke Edwall (3.52 GAA) and Nick Boddy (3.31) have been the platoon in net for Arizona this season.

SOONERS HOME GAMES ON THE AIR – All 2006-2007 OU Hockey home games will be broadcast over the internet this season. Caleb Fox, a senior from Rowlett, Texas, returns to call his second season of play-by-play action for the Sooners. Color commentator Keaton Fuchs, a senior from Norman, also returns this season and welcomes producer Jared Richardson, a senior from Tacoma, Washington, to the broadcast as they bring you all the hard-hitting, fast-paced Sooners Hockey action over the internet throughout the remainder of the season. The OU Hockey broadcast begins 15 minutes prior to face-off. Fans can listen to the OU Hockey internet broadcast by going to either www.icehockey.ou.edu or www.ouhockey.com and clicking the BROADCAST link.

TICKETS – Individual tickets for all OU Hockey home games are on sale now and can be purchased at Blazers Ice Centre, 8000 South I-35, in Oklahoma City. Call 631-3307 or 631-2709 for additional information.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE – The Sooners practice this week at the Blazers Ice Centre on Monday and Wednesday from 4:30-6:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 8:45-10:30 P.M.
