View Full Version : So Tony Dungy is the first guy from Africa to win the SuperBowl

Sorry I just hate all the PC. The PCers go out of their way to set them apart. Dungy is a good coach and a good man, as is Luvie Smith but they aint no more African than I am.

I also like in Dungy's interview when he said more important than "two African American men" was two Christian men.

I haven't

I've heard people say I'm Irish or Italian. Living in NY you'd probably hear this more than me. I honestly don't know many Italians or Irish or at least if I do they don't identify themselves like this.

BTW I said European Americans. Irish and Italy are countries, not continents like Africa and Europe. When you say African or European your lumping a large space in there.

Well, when you aren't sure of when or where it was that your ancestor got whacked on the head and thrown onto a boat, you tend to generalize.

I also think that people that moved west or towards the central part of the US mixed more and diluted their ancestry. There are still pockets of the old world culture, but there are very few. They began to part with the old ways and find more of an American identity.

You can pretty much tell an American just by getting a phrase out of them.

that's what I'm talking about, this happened to their ancestors, and BTW all races have been slaves, and Black Africans also had slaves. My ancestors weren't all from America but I don't claim to be European American or something else. I just think it's stupid. IMO

Actually I read a book or two in college that used the term "European American". And just like "African American", I had a good laugh.

I'm really hoping we can get over this and move on, but I'm not sure we will. Maybe when we've interbred enough to be one color we'll shut up about it.

Dungy definitely has some "chocolate milk" going on. The dude's got freckles! I think it's silly to put labels on people. You are either good, mediocre, or bad. It doesn't take any specific skin tone differentiating for me to tell you if someone is any of the above. Let their ability and record speak for themselves. The media has way to much time on their hands if they have to invent some type of "first".

I'm more worried about what state someone is from? I'm an Oklahoma-American. I don't trust anyone from "up north" ! :D

Coincidentally those disaster happened after my family immigrated to America. I think there is a connection.

Of course Scot-Irish folk don't indentify with a nation because they couldn't get their own. They are the Okie State, and K-State of Europe.
