Suspected tornadoes kill at least 14 in Florida

I think the press can get in hot water if they don't use "suspected" or "alleged" before the conviction.
Tornadoes have rights too.

People from the local NWS office often need to do a survey of storm damage to verify that it was a tornado and not just straight line winds.

LOL well I suppose it could have been straight line wind damage that tore up all those mobile homes. Basically it just means nobody has confirmed whether or not a tornado was the cause. But judging from the amount of damage I saw on the news earlier it looks like an F-2 possibly F-3 in spots.
It is interesting because the Enhanced Fujitsu Scale was just released. An EF-3 is not quite as strong as it used to be.

i think they have to have visual confirmation before they can confirm a tornado....if all the weather "evidence" is ripe for tornadic activity, they'll used "suspected"

It would be a gustnado or a water spout that they weren't sure of...;)

Could have been one of Olevet's beer farts.

They say "suspected" because they don't have stormchasing hillbillies with camcorders in Florida. ;)

They have to talk to eyewitnesses and probably will do a tornado lineup.
You never know if it was an earthquake or a tsunami that was wearing a tornado mask.

those lineups are not considered reliable in "disaster court"

So I hear the suspect roughed some folks up.

Heh. It's entirely possible they interviewed someone on the scene:
"Ma'am, did you see what destroyed your home?"
"It was black!"
"Black?"
"Yeah, a big black dude!"
"Um, ma'am, this looks like tornado damage."
"Yeah, it was black!"
(That just comes from reading a bunch of witness statements after bank robberies-including mine. When we got robbed a few years ago, my eyewitness description included calling one of the pastiest people in history black. Memory is weird.)

It's not a confirmed tornado until the press interviews toothless people in front of their destroyed moble home.
"Me's and my common law wife, whoz really married to my brother hears a train a coming. I was fixin' to take a **** and the whole dern house just up and blew away. Good thing my *** was stuck to that there toilet seat."
It was an alleged moble home

Well, I'll bet when the suspected tornado hit the alleged mobile home, we got some proof REALLY quickly how mobile it could be.
