2006-07 ACHA Division 1 Ranking #8

West Bloomfield, MI - The University of Illinois is the #1 ranked team for the 6th consecutive poll, amassing 32 of a possible 34 first-place votes. Penn State received the other 2 first-place votes and maintained the #2 spot. Parity was on the prowl again as 14 of the top 20 teams lost a game during the ranking period, including 7 of the top 10 teams. Only Illinois, Rhode Island, and Lindenwood from the Top 10 survived the period without a blemish. West Chester was again the biggest mover in the polls, jumping up another four spots, as they are now 8-1-0 in 2007.
Also, West Virginia bumped up three spots to #12 , while Washington & Jefferson moved up two spots to #14.

The ninth ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, February 16 and will determine the 16 teams for the ACHA Division 1 National Championships. The Regular Season Champions from the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL), Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association (ECHA), and Eastern Collegiate Hockey League (ECHL) will receive an automatic berth.

This years ACHA Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by Kent State University and take place February 28-March 4, 2007 at the Ice Zone in Youngstown, OH. Sixteen teams will qualify for the tournament.
