View Full Version : Has anyone else had an issue with this?

It seems like recently I've been getting infected eyebrow hairs. I never had this before. Now it seems like as one is healing up I'll get another on the other side.
Probable causes? Best treatment?
If this is a "getting older" thing, why wasn't it in the brochure?

Maybe its time for a burnover. Then new ones will grow back. Kinda like your Uncle Mort used to do with his zoysia lawn in the fall.

sometimes shaving causes ingrown hairs. you should try waxing them instead.

And the nose hair thing I've dealt with before. It's a once in a while thing. This eyebrow thing is just a recent problem. I've got little bald patches where I removed a few in the infected area. It looks like eyebrow mange.

Prevention
To prevent further damage to the hair follicles and infection:
* Reduce friction from clothing.
* Avoid shaving the area if possible (if shaving is necessary, use a clean new razor blade or an electric razor each time).
* Keep the area clean.
* Avoid contaminated clothing and washcloths.
Clothing around eyebrows? no
Shaving?no
Keep area clean? I'm pretty sure they are good in that department.
Contaminated clothing and washcloths? Not an issue.
I don't think this is it.

You might have a persistent case of staph on your skin. I do, it eventually caused a form of skin cancer. I have been treating the folliculitis/staph infection for 4 years, it can be tough to knock down.

I've gotten ingrown eyebrow hairs before-just use an exfoliant for a few days and it should clear up.

Sometimes men wear them for fun. I understand. But now you are paying the price with your eyebrows.

No infected ones, but I have been noticing these hairs that go nuts and just keep growing and growing. I have several in each brow now. I used to laugh at the old dudes in the barber shop when the barber would buzz their eyebrows whilst cutting their hair. Now, not so much.

Quit plucking... you'll only make it worse by spreading the germs around. Try simply washing with a mild soap and water. You may want to add a small amount of an antibiotic ointment to the area also, but usually just the soap and water works well.

Stick your face in a pot of boiling water for 3 minutes. That should take care of it.
