Is that the one with David Bowie and a very young Jennifer Connelly?

It can't be as good as Labyrinth. That movie rules.

This is a new movie from Spain set during their fascist period.

is it and indie thing, or what?

picasso

it's a Spanish/foreign film which might as well be Indie to the U.S. audiences.

there's some graphic violence but very imaginative. I liked.

Ditto. And it was pretty violent. Like when the dude crushes that other dude's face in. That was awesome.

Mrs Howzit: You owe me. Big time.

Howzit: :les: IT HAD SUBTITLES!!! WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!?!?

I saw it. It was very good. It was also about as depressing movie as you'll ever see.

So it did have subtitles instead of dubbed?

If so; IN

I hates the dubbing and loves me some subtitles.

yeah it has subtitles. for anyone in the okc area it was showing in the giant theater in the harkin bricktown theaters last week.

it's a fairy tale in the classic sense, one designed the scare the jesus out of a kid (definitely not a kid movie though). Great movie, the pale man rmfo. Lots of duality between the real life and fantasy sequences.

Makes me want to cough up $40 for tickets and refreshments for myself and the ol' ball and chain.

I do a great job of making myself depressed without paying somebody else to do it for me.

$40 for two people? Highway robbery. Shouldn't cost you more than $20 unless you're one of those people that needs the nachos, popcorn, drink, AND a box of candy to get through a movie.

EDIT: also, your wife carries a purse, right? Have her sneak your refreshments in inside the purse. Now you aren't paying for refreshments anymore. :D

The Departed was another nominee for feel good movie of the year. Fantastic film, but yowza.

Plenty of head shots in that one. Jack was awesome. I read some where that they are planning a Departed 2.

just saw it...thought it was awesome.

and also, despite the fact that everybody dies, you come away (or at least I did) thinking that it may have been a happy ending instead.

But yeah, it was also very violent and gruesome...But I think it needed to be that gruesome to convince you that Ophelia's death was a happy ending

Exactly. Just don't come with the kool-aid about your own flavor of strychnine.

I saw the preview on HBO. Looks very good. I'm gonna take the kids. Punishment for making me wake up early on the weekends. Lack of sleep, eh...

it ain't a kids movie.

I'm with ya Kaiser. two of my favorite painters went through that with Ze Franco. of course Dali kissed his butt (made an awesome portrait for his daughter) and Picasso opposed him while he himslef kissed communist Russia's butt.
