I know Krispy Kreme's going to have a lot of favorites, but for me I like Daylight Donuts.

Up here in Tulsa, I go to the one on 91st and Sheridan. A guy named Paulie owns it. Super nice guy. I've been to one on Memorial and 106th, but they didn't seem too nice.

Also, the one on 15th and Harvard is great. Mary always throws in an extra donut or two for us.

I'm not going to make this a poll (because I don't know how). :D

Any privately owned donut shop that uses vegetable oil instead of lard, owned by Asian Christians, and serves 3 different styles of sausage rolls (regular, jalepeno, and croissant). In DFW these are available in any strip mall there's a dry cleaner. In GA, all we have is Dunkin Donuts (which is teh succ).

You gotta be a sponsor to make a poll, so even if you knew how, you'd have to fork over some $$$.

Yeah, I love the one on 15th also (whooda thunk...Asian Christians??). Too bad you're in GA. I could mail some to you, for a small fee. :D

Growing up my favorite was Frankie's Big Donut at 19th & Portland in OKC, Krispy Kreme is about all there is here in South Austin, there are a few locals that are kinda poor. I haven't tried any of the Round Rock donuts which are suppose to be a local favorite but harder to find south....although we probably have a large lead in taco stands over the north side of Austin.

That's cool. I'll just stick it between my legs and warm it up.

Dunkin are so far superior to KK that it's not even close.

Daylight Donuts is the best. There used to be a place on Portland, south of 23rd called Frank's Bakery that had similar donuts.

Edit: Didn't see bluedog's post. Frank's/Frankie's. Something like that.

I prefer Daylight as well. Around here we have a place called Shipley's that I love.

Donut King is just as good - Krispy Kreme were too sweet on a lot of their doughnuts. That said, the ones fresh off the line were teh win.

I actually like the squishy doughnuts from Donut King better and the cake doughnuts from Krispy Kreme. But I've only had stuff from Donut King a couple of times...

Donut King is basically just Dunkin Donuts with more grease in my experience :D

if you are getting something other than glazed at KK then you might as well go to Donut King though

I liked Winchell's...then they closed. (at least in Edmond)

Daylight's are undercooked. I like a brown doughnut.
The old Safeway bakery in Edmond had good doughnuts.
Krispy Kremes are really sweet so they're good with black coffee.
Any donut is better than no donut.

Douglas Donuts is good, but Brown's Bakery are the best.

I've never seen a Daylight Donuts in my life, that I can recall.

I can't eat donuts any more, cept maybe once a month. Gaining muscle and losing fat do not coincide with donuts, or anything else from a donut shop.

but man they're good....

I've never been much of a doughnut fan. The ones at Buchanan's grocery used to be decent befofe they closed. I'll eat a few doughnut holes or a cinnamon sugar or a sprinkle doughnut on a rare occasion.

I never did get the fuss over KK donuts. They didn't seem all that special to me. Dunkin Donuts on the other hand.... A cake donut with a hot cup of coffee... Mmmm!

I don't get the fuss over KK either, when they opened in OKC you people were backed up 2 miles on I-240 FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD!

Really people, it ain't that great a place, Dunkin is pretty damned good and so is their coffee too!

I always liked Daylight...dont' tell me the one at 61st and Sheridan is gone?

All of the AZ Krispy Kreme's went out of business some months ago. We've got a place called Rainbow Donuts that's pretty good, but they're 30 minutes from my house. Right now I'm stuck with Safeway.

I believe the one at 61st and Sheridan is still open.

Paulie's Daylight Donuts (91st and Sheridan) is now open on Mondays. Most other DD shops are closed on Monday.

There's a place in Muskogee that's great. It isn't a chain; it's just a little locally owned place. The donuts are great and the place is feels sterile clean. It's either on Chandler or Hancock.

Donuts - Krispy's
Coffee - Tim Horton's hands down. If you ever get up around the border (I've seen a few in New York state and even one in Orlando I believe), try one out.

Not a big fan of donuts, but Daylight used to make sausage rolls that I used to love back when I was allowed to eat that stuff.

then they got cheap, and started cutting the sausages in half lengthwise and selling them at the same price.....so I don't eat them anymore.

well, that and they make you fat.

Isn't Daylight a chain based out of Tulsa with all of the stores being franchises?

The hot off the line glazed are why KK is good, other than that they are about the same as every where else. I first had KK in Pensacola in the late 90's, their glazed is the closest that I have had to the old Frankie's glazed donuts. Dunkin Donuts is alright, it really depends on who is running the store as the quality varies greatly between stores. We had some good DD in Boston, I have had some not so good in OKC. KK or grocery store is about all we have in this part of Austin.

Goin' to Paulie's right now, if any of you Tulsa hillbillies want to meet and greet.

'Course, by the time you read this, my girls and I will be long gone.
