SETTING THE STAGE: Oklahoma plays Iowa State tonight in the first of two games between the teams this weekend…The Sooners have never beaten the Cyclones…OU is 0-5-2 all-time against Iowa State… Oklahoma is ranked 4th in the latest ACHA D1 Coaches poll…Iowa State is ranked 6th in the same poll…OU’s last games were two weeks ago when they split with Weber State at home…Iowa State was swept by No. 1 Illinois last weekend in Champaign.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: Sooners forward Adrian Borchgrevink leads the Sooners in goals with 20 and total points with 34…OU forward Doug Gebbie is second on the team in goals with 15…Owen Brewer (8-22-30), Gebbie (15-14-29) and Luke Rose (11-10-21) follow Borchgrevink in terms of points…Oklahoma goaltender Aaron Schmeilski has a record of 13-2-0 with a 2.05 GAA and a .927 save percentage…The Oklahoma power play this season has scored 63 goals in 261 chances for a 24.1% success rate…The Sooners are 39-14-3 all-time in games played on Fridays and 8-7-2 in Friday night road games…OU defenseman Danny Force did not make the trip to Iowa due to his participation in the 2007 World University Games in Torino, Italy…Coach Donovan exhibited remarkable restraint this week, turning down free tickets to Wednesday’s NHL All-Star Game in Dallas in order to run practice and prepare the Sooners for this weekend’s series.

IOWA STATE NOTES: Iowa State’s head coach, Alan Murdoch, is in Torino with the U.S. University Select Team as Team USA’s Scouting Coordinator…In Coach Murdoch’s absence, the Cyclones are being coached by Brian Wilkie, former head coach at Minot State and North Dakota State…Iowa State is led in scoring by forward Jayson Peterson, who has 23 goals and 16 assists for a total of 39 points in thirty games this season…Peterson is followed in scoring by Jason Brown (8-28-36), Mike Murtaugh (17-18-35), Peter Majkozak (23-10-33) and Allen Raushel (14-15-29)…Raushel will miss this weekend’s series against the Sooners as he is in Torino with Team USA…Goaltenders Trent Baker (4.14 GAA) and Christian Johansson (2.93 GAA) are Iowa State’s top netminders…A few fun facts: In the United States, the state of Iowa ranks first in pork, corn and egg production and second in soybean and red meat production.
