no problem. you'd be going REALLY out of the way if you went through topeka--you could probably get to junction city by way of salina in the same length of time it would take you to get to topeka

Don't listen to them...go to Topeka, take US 75 North to US 36, go West to K 99, go South to Junction City. ;)

Yeah, but Topeka is the scenic route.

if by "scenic" you mean an extra hour of the same mindnumbingly dull stuff you see on the other route

Take I-35 to 77, and then go right into JC.

Please. I promise it will be the best way to go. Unless it's iced or snowed over.

The Flint Hills area along 77 and 177 is some of the prettiest county there is.

Mostly 2. But back in college I dated a girl from Wichita, and I can't count the number of times that I've driven between there and Manhattan, and I promise that you won't get there any faster going on either Interstate.

This thread reminds me of a guy who used to come into the Broadway Dx in Moore when I worked there in another age. For some reason, he really hated people from Kansas. I never could figure out how Kansas could have anything remarkable enough to generate such hate.

That's why. There's nothing there. Driving from Wichita to Denver you could set the cruise control, tie the steering wheel in place, and safely take a 6 hour nap without running off the road. ;)

No no no. Save the toll fee and take less time. From Wichita go North on I-135 to Newton, take Hwy 50 to Hwy 77 and then straight to Junction City.

Drove from Denver to Atlanta with my parents to move some stuff to my sisters new condo. The most misserable part of the whole trip was going through Kansas. Eastern colorado was a pain, but I knew I was almost home. I thought we'd never make it out of Kansas though.

you know, i find the futility of this discussion hilarious. Because no matter which roads you take, you still end up in ****ing Kansas.

The beautiful breadbasket of America.

I love that state.

I don't know what the toll is now, but it used to be like a quarter. But yeah, that works too.
