View Full Version : Prayers for my Daughter

She's 8 years old and will be 9 next month. She was sledding yesterday. :( She was sledding in a yard that still had enough ice/snow to do so. She ran out of room to sled, hit the curb, was ejected from the sled into the street where she smacked her face. She was sledding on her knees so from that position forward her momemtun built until she hit the concrete with her face. She broke one and cracked the other two front teeth. She skinned up her face badly from her upper lip all the way to her cheekbone under her right eye. Her lip is banged up and so swollen it hurts to even touch it. Got her chin too but not as bad.

Her spirits are good and she even went to school today after seeing the Dentist. We took her to the ER last night and there were no broken cheekbone or jawbone. The Dentist says to let the facial swelling go down and return in two weeks to fix the teeth. The broken one is so bad that she'll need a root canal done on it between now and her 25th birthday.

We feel so bad for her. I want to hug her so hard it would all go away.

Sometimes parenting sucks.

TIA for the prayers.

poor kid, prayers for her. i remember when my son ( about 7 at the time) decided he was going to ramp his bike. We told him he had to go fast to make it. well he went so slow that his front tire drop off the ramp and he went face first into the dirt and than the bike on top of him. He was not hurt to bad. but it scared us at first. than we laughed so hard we cried. he got ****ed.

the fine art of bike jumping takes some trial and error

i can't believe i survived some of the dumb crap i did on a bike

No doubt on the bike / motorcycle jumping...

I know some of the guys didn't fair as well as I did.

I remember some pretty bad wrecks.

The City Bank in Tulsa near Yale Ave. and the BA Expressway was being built back then....

It was a huge field and everyone went there to ride.

Once they started building the towers there was lots of building materials to make ramps out of....

If "Gnarly" had been cool to say then....it would have been MEGA-GNARLY...:D

Will do. My son got a concusion from doing that the last snow. I guess I should feel lucky. I have little girl too, and there's nothing like those little girls.

I split my top 2 front teeth during my first *and last* time playing hockey in middle school. Root canals are the ultimate suck. Easily the most pain I've ever been through. Tell them to novacaine the heck out of her when the time comes.

That's awful ST, I feel for her. I busted my middle two permanent top front teeth out in 5th grade and had to get a root canal on them. But my fake teeth are still lasting to this day. I chipped them every now and then, but they just patch them back. These weren't her permanent teeth right?

My son broke one of his front teeth with the plane of the tooth. They decided to yank it since it wasn't a permanent. It's retarded the growth of the permanent tooth that should take it's place.

Hope everything is cool now.

Prayers indeed.
But HUG HER ANYWAY!

Let's see. I elbowed one daughter in the schnoz when she came up behind me while I was starting the lawn mower. A couple years later, I planted a softball right on her kisser while teaching her how to catch. Loosened some teeth, but nothing permanent. She's got a little scar inside her lip that she's kinda proud of (9 or 10 years later) When you know it's not serious, eventually joke about it (nicely); it'll make 'em tough and confident.

She's a very good piano player and a pretty good Soccer player.

We got her some golf clubs at Christmas.

I'm gonna get her started soon.

You Sooners are awesome!

Thanks!

Hope she's not in too much pain. The road rash will go away soon. My oldest son caught a line drive to the mouth when he was much younger and lost a tooth. He didn't even cry or yell, just was very interested in the tooth that came out, root and all.

I hope she's ok ST......my older Sis lost her front teeth on a metal lawn chair when she was about your daughters age. The dentist fixed them up and she's been a beauty all her life....so your daughter should be OK.
