line as of right now is ou +5. seems a little low to me but we'll see what okienole has to say about it.

:P

hopefully we can stay with em for 40 minutes. we know what kind of atmosphere to expect and we've seen what the boys do on the road.

We need to compete for 40 minutes in this game. I'll be disappointed with less. We got blown away in the 2nd half against Memphis, Alabama, Tech, and UT. We need to turn that corner and give a good team a full game on the road.

OSU is coming off an ugly loss and they are playing in that miserable barn where they are always so tough. So, by no means do I "expect" a win. Even on our best day, this team might not be good enough to pull that out. But I do not want to see a massacre in the 2nd half either.

We need a little luck to win these road games. We need the other team to shoot poorly and or come out without energy. UT came out guns blazing, even when we were in their face, making an upset bid impossible. If Curry and crew are totally on their game, it could get ugly-- we need them to hurt themselves a bit.

But we all know OSU isn't real deep, and if their top guns are a bit off, then we can make a game of this. Of course, we'll need to put the ball in the hole as well, which could be our biggest problem.

Take good shots, limit turnovers, and hope OSU is off their game. That's how we win.

But I can't see those three things coming together all at once right now.

I think we'll hang around, but OSU will take command-- it won't be a blowout, but it won't be nip-and-tuck at the end either.

Yeah, this is one to look for the intangibles --attitude, tenacity and fortitude. The tangible-- a higher score than Bitter Runt U -- most likely won't be there. Though it would be great if Huckleberry Sutton fell down again.

The Bitter Runt fans are the worst. I swear you can hear their hick accents even when they boo the most obvious calls by the refs.

Do you remember when they tore down the goalposts when they beat OU in Stoolwater a few years ago? Some hillbilly jumped on the crossbar and pretended he was riding a bronc while waving a fake lasso. That was the most inane and embarrassing display of bitterruntness yet.

And don't get me started on how they italicize their letters. That's so 1986 of them.

+5 seems a little low to me too. I figure OSU would get at least 4-5 points for being at home.

It's apparent that we are better than many gave us credit for being and OSU was a little overrated but the game is in Stillwater and it is tough enough to win there when we had the better team. Add to that they are coming off a pretty bad loss (albeit to a good team) and the fact that we swept them last year I think it will be a tough environment to play in. Might actually be our toughest game the rest of the year including @A&M and against KU. I figure we compete hard but probaby lose by 12-14.

I like our chances a lot more on the rematch in Norman though.

I think Ok Stink wins by 10 and that is if we play well. We have looked so much better lately but I think that wild crowd will intimidate our young guys. Would be an awesome W though!!!!!

i'll agree about the fans. i have some friends that go there, and apparently some fo their forums are calling the win against saxet "the game of the century". i found that entertaining.

I agree OUMill-- I think our defense has been battle-tested to the point where I don't think any team (even very good ones) will just destroy us. And a team like OSU that relies heavily on a few specific scorers, could really play into our hands in terms of our D. So, I don't see the Pokes just lighting up the scoreboard unless they are just hitting all of their jumpers.

The question is how do our young guys handle the pressure of the OSU D combined with the pressure of that atmosphere? Will Crocker and Maze be able to put it in the hole at all? Will Neal ever seen an open look? Will L2 panic down low as he often does?

I could see lots of turnovers and lots of missed shots. My big fear is that we come out cold and nervous, OSU comes out angry, and the Pokes take a big lead early. We KNOW our guys are going to fight for 40 minutes regardless, but this team is not built to bounce back from big defecits. Gotta handle the early pressyre that is sure to come our way.

The OSU-UT game was excellent, but "game of the century" is a tad much. I actually thought their 2OT game with Pitt was a bit better from a pure basketball standpoint. I will give the Pokes credit though-- both of those games were major pressure-cookers against talented teams, and OSU gutted out both wins.

As much hype as there is surrounding UT-- and I totally agree that Durant is everything he's being made out to be--- the Horns are really just barely a top 25 team. A so-so Big East team (Nova) really put the hurt on them Saturday.

The only thing is that we have been playing great the last few games and Aggie has played horribly 2 of their last 3 games (Kansas and Texas Aggie).

I think we will probably win, but don't feel overly confident about it. We got run out of the gym at KU. We had solid effort against UT and eked out a win. Then at TAMU, their defense shut us down and we didn't respond to the challenge. Hell, we barely beat BU at home (by 3) and you just smoked them by 40! As Boggan goes, so goes our team. We can stand Curry having a sub-par game, but if Boggan doesn't score 20 or so and board well, we could be looking at an L.

In any case, I love this series. Both teams usually bring their best efforts and the home crowd is always fantastic no matter the location. One thing we've seen time after time is that it doesn't matter if one team is ranked and the other isn't. We had some good wins over the excellent Tisdale and King teams of the '80s when we were barely treading over .500, for example. And likewise, you've beaten us when we were really good as well.

Not really sure how getting blown out @ Texas = playing great, but I'll assume you just meant the CU, Nebraska and Baylor games (and not including the two previous games against TT and Alabama). CU, Nebraska and Baylor (all at home) don't quite equal @ Kansas and @ aTm...

Tisdale and King...Stacey "Sky" King. Harvey "the General" Grant, Mookie Blaylock (dude could steal) and the white guy, 3-point specialist...kept us in the championship game against KU...gah. My memory is failing me. David something?

An 11 point loss at Texas wouldn't be considered a blow out. On the other hand, the games at Kansas and A&M were ugly performances. I am not touting OU as a force to be reconed with, they are just stepping up their game. No one is predicting them to make any kind of a splash in the Big 12, but they are getting some nice wins. A 17 point win vs Nebbish and 40 point win vs Baylor, even though they were at home, were great wins for this program. Before these games, there were not many things about the season to hold your head up high about. Now that we are starting to shoot the ball better and Neil is contributing, maybe we can make a run and keep the post season streak alive. Do I think that OSU is better than OU, of course. Do I think that they will win tonight, probably. It is just odd that Vegas is only giving us 5-6 points, which is around the same as they gave Texass.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but when I was watching the Texas game it wasn't that close. I believe OU only made a run after UT yanked everybody, but whatever. OU is scoring the ball much better now than they have been, and I've been impressed with the development in that area. I just want to see them do it against someone decent before thinking they can do it all the time.

The Texass game wasn't as close as the score indicated, but without Longar and Neil shooting like ****, we kept it respectful.

time to settle in for some sweet action.

i still don't think we have much of a chance but a 10-12 point loss would be a decent showing. we're just too thin and inexperienced to come away with a w tonight but we will continue to get better as we go.
