Dear Fox,

Thank you for waiting until AFTER the PAT to show us and the Saints the replay on that catch thereby preventing New Orleans from having a good look to decide to challenge the play.

I realize that it simply would have setup the Bears on their own one instead of giving them a TD. But anything can happen.

Seriously, the NFL needs to incorporate some system to allow coaches more time to decide whether they want to challenge a play when the network totally drops the ball on showing a replay.

I thought, in the NFL, teams usually get to see replays of any play whenever they want to. They just have to tell a ref before the next play goes.

By the way, the only thing that was in question on the catch was if it was a TD or not.

Dear Lovie Smith,

The good news is that you are going to the Super Bowl.

The bad news is Rex Grossman is still your quarterback.

It could be the Grossman that has a 100+ QB rating or the Grossman that has a rating of less than 40. Not sure I would like to go into the big game wondering who shows up. I guess if your defense can create four turnovers, you will be alright. Not sure if you can count on that however.

Exactly. I think the Bears (because of their D) have a better chance of beating Indy than they do of beating Brady & Belichek & a better balaced Patriots.
Lemme tell ya, I don't enjoy the Saints losing, but it's WAAAAAY easier to handle than ANY OU loss. The Saints had a great season, so I can't kick much. Plus, Mrs. TU won $125 with 9 & 4 on her office "square" pool. :D

At this point, it looks like the Bears vs Pats. Unless the Bear defense can throttle Brady (doubtful), it seeems likely that the Patriots' D will find away to force Grossman into a 0 QB rating.
For me football season is over after the Conference championships, because the 2-week wait for 1 overhyped game is, well . . . just not part of the season. I'll be pulling for the Bears, but not with much hope.

Yeah, win or lose, there is no question that the Bears will be looking for a veteran QB next year. I don't think that they will get rid of Grossman, but I think that they bring in someone for a safety net. And not someone of Griese's caliber. They will be looking for a veteran who can step in and start.

As I was saying... I expect the Colts to make a great comeback to beat the Pats. :O I don't think the Colts' D is as good as the Pats', so Grossman might get some slack. And the Bears' D is back to near-Monster form, so I give the Bears a decent chance.

Still, Grossman always looks like a clueless 13-year-old behind the steering wheel of a cement truck: Somebody's gonna get hurt, but you don't know if it's the Bears or their opponent.
