I made waffles.

Belgian waffles. But not what you normally call Belgian waffles, even though they're just regular waffles made on a different iron. these waffles are a yeasty egg dough with pearl sugar all through them. Freaking tasty.

Oh, and a lot of butter. The recipe I used had nutritional info on it. "Makes 4 servings. Per serving values: Calories - 903. Calories from fat - 475."

I just ate 152% of my recommended daily allowance of saturated fat. :D

I have this friend, he's extremely cheap, who is the grand-son of a fairly well known fiddle player. We'll call him John.

So, John is a big fellow and used to leach off of my visitor's dining pass at Baylor which was all you can eat. John took the "all you can eat" to heart and would have a couple of slices of pizza, a burger, some fajitas, and then some sort of desert which was usually ice cream or a cobbler.

At the end of eating this mountain of high-fat food on his plate, he'd go over and make himself some waffles and get a glass of milk. He'd ALWAYS get skim milk and I asked him one day why the hell he drank skim milk and dead serious he says, "It's less fattening."

That's the only waffle story in my repertoire.

You should try Liege waffles. They make pancakes look weak and flabby. Putting butter on them would only serve to leach out part of the butter already in the batter.

I've got an old beige-colored Regal PolyPerk that I used up until Christmas when I received a fancy new Black & Decker as a gift.

...and peeps talk about perculators not making good coffee, but you know I thought it did pretty good.
