The following story has hit very close to home. They live nearby and the mother is a 1980 OU grad. Very nice family. Very religious, not blaming the other kid at all as it was truly an unlucky accident. His brother is also a wrestler and was at the match with him.
They are preparing to deal with whatever function Ammon is able to get back.
Thoughts and prayers for Ammon and his family.

Plano East wrestler Ammon Butcher underwent the first of two surgeries to immobilize his neck vertebrae. Butcher was injured Friday night in a meet at Arlington Lamar and lost feeling in his body from the chest down. He has since regained some mobility and feeling in his extremities.
Butcher's mother, Barbara, said the surgery went well and he would be moved soon from John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.
Plano East coach Al Koebke set up a fund to assist the Butcher family. Donations can be made to: The Edward Butcher Fund, Capital One, 1221 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas, 75074.
