How much are we getting? Last I saw, Tulsa was on the line between the 4-8" and the 8-14" estimates.

Like Mrs Fugue, I'm going to go ahead and lean to the lower end of that estimate.

My prediction stands at less than an inch. Snow predictions in Oklahoma never come through. Ice yes, snow no.

It is raining rather steady though.

We have sleet or rain or something now.....if it's freezing rain, I hope it avoids McAlester and Muskogee this time.

So basically, they just say whatevre they want and then when it actually starts happening they report it. Kind of like me looking out the window.

Oh and they should change this "winter storm warning" to a "winter rain storm warning/possible flood watch to come"

silverwheels
1/20/2007, 04:02 PM
Or they could just change it to "It's going to be cloudy and stuff might fall from the sky, or it might not. It might be frozen, or it might not be. Maybe. Possibly."

I told my boss 3 days ago we wouldn't get any snow in Lawton. "I'm going to Norman."

The forecasters kept racketing up the intensity of their claims. Friday the warning was that an "impressive amount of snow" would fall. With that I decided I would be "impressed" by this storm staying behind in Lawton. Nothing................ the sky isn't falling and neither is any snow.

That's the thing. They sort of got it close to right last week and so everyne believed what they said this time. How many plans were cancelled or adjusted because of these dorks. Well, they've cried wolf for the last time. I was already done with thier spring and summer forecasting. I'm officially done with winter.

I'll look on the internet and out the window from now on.

i like using noaa.com for my weather forecast

you guys are experiencing what we had last week........last weekend, the weathermen told us with all certainty that we'd have ice and sleet all weekend

it did nothing but rain friday and saturday, and then late sunday nite we got some ice

then early early wednesday morning, we got a good ice/snow thingy.....enough to close schools.......that they never forecasted happening

BRILLIANT!

We are getting zero here in central Florida; however,
Yesterday (Jan 19th) in 1977, Lakeland got 2 inches of snow.

Panic overcame everyone. Wrecks were non-existant as most residents were afraid to go out into "whatever that stuff is". Those who did venture out wore their 1960's nuclear fallout gas masks, thinking it was a sneak attack by the still suspicious Russians.

The yard stick the kids put out back measures 8 inches and its still falling. I'm just glad I still have electricity. It is beautiful, but I'm ready for it to stop now.
