Have a question about the Natural Gas. I was outside this morning and heard a low hissing noise coming from the gas deal outside the house. The heater was running and it was making this noise. When the heater wasn't running it wasn't making the noise. Is this normal? I hope this isn't a stupid question...I just want to be precautious. I never really paid attention to this before. Thanks!

That is the sound of gas moving through a pipe. Or, through a valve.

Ha. It isn't suppose to be what you think it is. I tried again using the same word in the message part and it did the same thing. Funny stuff.

You should get SicEm's opinion on this noise. I bet he has some sort of natural gas experience.

A great way to find a gas leak is to light a candle and start waving it around the suspected area.

You'll find that darn leak in no time flat.

If I didn't get any well educated advise on this board then this would have been my next step. ONG website said to clear the house if you hear any HIGH noises from the valve. Screw that....I just bought this house and I be danged if something of this sort is going to bring us down!

Get some dishsoap and thin it out a bit with some water. Brush it on the suspected area. If you see bubbles - you got a leak.

That's what we like to call 'Hillbilly Leak-Finder'.

In a peench, spit will work.....if there's a leak you should see a spit booble.

No, that's how you determine if that downed power line is hot.
