Any answer that isn't Slapshot disqualifies someone as a member of the human race.

However, if you were to consider Strange Brew a hockey movie (hey, it has hockey in it) then it's immediately #2.

Slapshot, most definitely.

I mean, seriously, this is like asking what the best golf movie of all time is. Sure, Tin Cup is mildly amusing, but Caddyshack is the undisputed and indisputable winner.

And just like Caddyshack 2 is the worst golf movie ever, Slapshot 2 is the worst hockey movie ever.

I would say Mighty Ducks I, II, and III (there is a part III right?)
hey - it inspired the creation of an actual TEAM for God's sake!

never seen the other ones anyway...so can't really vote on them (I did see about half of slapshot but fell asleep and didn't bother to re-watch it)

is there really such a thing as a "good hockey movie?" :)

Slap Shot is a damn good movie, but you can't beat Miracle. Every time I see the clip of them winning the gold, I get chills.

oh come to think of it, miracle was a good movie.......good call!

Is "Happy Gilmore" a golf movie, or a hockey movie?

Because he like plays both, and even on the golf course, he gets that putter that looks like a hockey stick

I'm going to say Mystery, Alaska even though I've never seen it, just because nobody's mentioned it :D

Miracle was a great movie, but Slap Shot is the undisputed king of the hockey movie, first, last and always.

A couple OKC players and several CHL players were in that movie. THey would talk about it in the locer room. Course that was many moons ago when I worked for the Stars.

I think Slapshot is the only movie where I know every line by heart.

This one is too easy! I didn't even know there was another hockey movie other than "Slap Shot"!

OK I admit "Miracle" was really good too.:O

Slap shot is No. 1, clearly, followed by Miracle and Mystery, Alaska. However, the punishments for disliking either of the first two differ greatly, which means it may be better to dislike Slap Shot as opposed to Miracle, if you have to dislike one.
Disliking Slap Shot = You go to the box, you know, two minutes, and you feel shame.
Disliking Miracle = Loss of U.S. Citizenship.

Disliking Slap Shot is a much larger penalty. Loss of man card, suspension of drinking rights, and it's a 10 minute life misconduct penalty. Plus instigator...

Does anyone remember a made for tv movie from the 70s starring Michael Moriarty as a minor league hockey player who is encouraged to play like a goon, and he kills a friend on the ice with a poke check to the mid-section? The friend killed on the ice was played by the actor who played the goon in Slapshot, the one who had a bounty on his head and also hit the ref at the end of the movie resulting in the Chiefs winning the title. This was not a great movie from my recollection, but it was a hockey movie, and there are not that many hockey movies.

What about Love Story? Ryan O'Neal was a hockey player for Harvard in that one.

Ned Braden: What are you doing?
Jeff Hanson: Puttin' on the foil!
Steve Hanson: Every game!
Jack Hanson: Want some?
Ned Braden: No.
Reg Dunlop: Jesus f**kin' Christ. They don't leave the bench.

Easily SlapShot.
