is it arson if you set something that you own on fire i.e. a house, car, storage shed etc.?

Could you get a permit and perhaps pay for a firetruck to come out and keep an eye on things in case the fire gets out of hand? What if you just lit the f***er up without getting a permit or a firetruck on standby?

Is it only arson if you try to collect insurance monies from the burn or is that just insurance fraud?

The crime of maliciously, voluntarily, and willfully setting fire to the building, buildings, or other property of another or of burning one's own property for an improper purpose, as to collect insurance.

Couldn't you donate what you wanted burned to the local fire dept for practice? That is a pretty common practice in Nebraska for people who want to burn something down legally, they let the fire department use it for training.

probably depends, because they only want certain things to be used in the burn houses

I'm glad that Mike nodded in agreement with JK's post. I was starting to think that JK was talking out of his *** again.
