Why is the Daily Oklahoman pushing so hard for AD to go pro? It seems like there has been an article everyday talking about how this is happening and that's happening and how he's ready to go and should go to the NFL.

Maybe the kid enjoys college life. Maybe he wants to get a degree. Maybe one of his goals is to wint he Heisman or win a National Championship.

Yes, the money is there and he knows it. Yes, I understand the chances are very good that he'll turn pro. But the columns every day talking about him like he's already gone is getting a little old.

Let AD and his family decide what he wants to do then we will all support it.

Everyone talks about what if he gets hurt next year...well what if he gets hurt his first year in the pros? He would be in the same situation as long as he has the insurance policy.

The NFL does not have too many guaranteed contracts.

you do get a signing bonus though.

I guess the Oklahoman doesn't have anything else to put in the paper.

without being in oklahoma to read the award winning periodical, i'd say that some batsh*t crazy aggie (aka boone pickens) is dumping some of his child porn cash profit into trying to get AD out of norman.

Honestly, I'm shocked it seems like he's thinking about staying. My guess is he's not gonna go as high as he originally thought (10-15 range) and he's trying to decide if he should take that money or come back and shoot for a big injury-free year and a 1-5 draft pick.

But he may not win the Heisman, if the playcalling remains totally predictable, ie, run AD up the gut, run AD up the gut, run AD up the gut, throw a short pass that is dropped, then he isn't going to do squat. Wilson needs to pull his head out of his *** and integrate AD into a full offensive scheme. JMO.

true dat.

i think AD is good enough, without the flashy moves, to be used like bush is at new orleans. as much as i don't like reggie, payton has utilized him like no other back we've seen. yes, AD is a different type RB, but his effectiveness can still be felt in other situations (reverses, shuffle pass, line backer, wedge buster, etc...)

If there weren't any AD articles in the Oklahoman, Sooner fans would be bitching that they aren't giving AD and coverage, and thus, trying to lower his stock in the draft via some ridiculous conspiracy they've created in their mind.

The sports writers for the Daily Oklahoman are nuts about osu. They feel AD is a threat to the cowboys and would love nothing more than to see him go. It always amazes me, that as bad as the osu football team stinks up the state, that the Daily Oklahoman always finds so much to report on them.

A) It's the Oklahoman and the Sunday Oklahoman. They no longer go by Daily. If you're going to bag on the paper, mock the poor editing with their correct name.

B) OSU homers?  Are you kidding me? Last time I checked, it was Gaylord Family Stadium in Norman, not in Stillwater. Even when it's a slow news day for OU, they always get top billing over the humpers. The Oklahoman has 1 Pokie football beat writer and 2 Sooner football beat writers.

C) The Oklahoman has no beat writers covering NFL teams beyond the Dallas Cowboys. The Hornets and Sonics suck right now, as does OU's men's BB team, so what do you think they're going to write about? I'd guess about the best RB to play for OU since Sims. Is that really that much of a stretch?

P.S. - Jenni Carlson is just as annoying.

This is the most rediculous post I have ever seen. Are you seriously bagging on somebody for calling a newspaper "Daily?" Thanks for pointing out where Memorial Stadium is, now Magellan can you tell me why NW Expressway has stop lights on it.

One of those "Sooner Beat Writers" didn't even know Allen Patricks name, and called him "whats his name" on a local sports radio show. That was the same week that we played Oklahoma State, so I guess he only had 5-6 weeks to figure out who was running the damn ball.

So are you.

Do you even READ the Oklahoman? I mean really, I challenge you to grab the last five days' papers and count the number of stories for Pokie football vs. Sooner football. Subtract a half point if the OSU story is about a Pokie coach being fired or a Humper player being released/arrested/shot (i.e., a negative story about the Pokies). I'm still trying to figure out how you think OSU getting more press for negative stuff is a good thing for them. By chance are you an Aggie grad whose husband made you switch to watching the Sooners?

Let me spell it out for you. The Oklahoman is not pushing for AD to go pro, they are writing stories with pros and cons for him to go pro because HE's NEWSWORTHY. That's it. There's no controversy, no conspiracy. AD sells more papers than any other Oklahoman right now, and believe it or not Christy Gaylord Everett likes it when The Oklahoman sells papers, so it behooves the sports writers to pick a popular subject and about it until it has been beat to death. Are you keeping up?

If you really have to resort to name-calling, it just shows how you A) completely missed the point and B) need to stick to debating your kids' soccer games with the other moms in your kitchen over coffee. You're underqualified for the topic at hand.

I guess you took the same Critical Thinking class as Mama and completely missed the point about the stadium - why would the University's largest journalism and sports donor have their sports staff go out of their way to write "in favor" (which, according to Mama, means publishing more negative stories) of OSU? First of all, Magellan is much much more funny than Einstein... Can I get a judges ruling?

Secondly, I could care less about what the DO prints. Accuracy on the radio not withstanding, they are probably the most worthless sports team in the country and it is proven by the fact that they actually pay Jenni Carlson for her opinions.

I am not opposed to your logic, I am opposed to you sticking up for that worthless rag of a local newspaper. Ah, so we come to the crux of the matter. Ed Gaylord is an evil, card-carrying REPUBLICAN, so we're going to remain a loyal card-carrying Democrat and bag on all things Gaylord - you know, the guy whose family is the largest OU donor? OU being the team you support? It's not even about what the Oklahoman writes, it's about who owns it. You really think I haven't read that journalism article before? Hell, I think I've actually linked it in this forum at one point, and I agreed with it! So what's your point? That you have none?

For the umpteenth time (wow, your reading comprehension skills are just off the charts) I challenge you to find one sentence I wrote that states that the Oklahoman had a top-notch, crack staff of writers or editors. The only thing I took to task was your crackpot assertion that the Oklahoman was an OSU shill. As I recall, I'm STILL waiting for that story count.
