Hope to see the Nawlins folks end their hopes of pro football supremacy, and get Reggie Bush the off-season rest he needs.

The cumulative effect of those charming LSU Tiger-Bait fans, the in-our-face presence of Reggie Bush, and the disgusting display of Louisiana and Nawlins politics during the Katrina flood, not to mention the corruption and greed of New Orleans and Orleans Parish politicos to never build those levees to withstand more than category 3 storms(even though they were given beaucoup $$$ for years and years) PIS*ES ME OFF! No cowboy fan could ever root for the eagles. The best thing that could come out of that game would be for the Saints to win (they did) and Reggie Bush to explode into a ball of flame at the end of the game to never be heard from again (didn't happen). ;)

My apologies to the board for replying to this stupid post on the football board. But here's a salient fact:
The levees that failed were designed and built by the US Army Corps of Engineers, not some mythical cabal of "New Orleans and Orleans Parish politicos."

I'm second to none it criticizing New Orleans for its many real faults, but that post is so mean and ignorant that it's shameful.

It is absolutely no fault of the politicians in Louisiana for not making strong-enough levees the highest spending priority EVAR. The US Army, and certainly some republicans somewhere, are to be blamed for not making those levees strong enough, even though New Orleans has always been below sea level, and a sitting duck for cat. 5 storms.

For example, who would root for Jerry Falwell's Liberty University in football, and why?...political reasons, of course. You, I would guess, would not be a fan of said team.

If Liberty had a football team or any semblance of an athletics program, I wouldn't care who their school president was.

And if my personal politics factored into the teams I rooted for, I guess I'd have to give up being a Red Sox and Giants fan in baseball.

While there is some overlap, the LSU and Saints fanbases are quite disparate.

One of the simplest ways to see the disparity is to do a quick scan of the crowd shots during games.

LSU fans are, predominately, crackers, such as myself (I mean I'm a cracker - not that I'm an LSU fan).

Saints fans are, predominately, black.

The balance has changed a *lot* since Katrina, as many of the "original" Saints fans are living elsewhere. However, Louisiana has always had a schizoid relationship with the City of New Orleans. The rest of the state tends to loathe New Orleans and its decadent ways, while New Orleans has always considered herself to be a world city.

Hating the Saints because of the lousy treatment you received at the Sugar Bowl from LSU fans.... Well, all I'm saying is that I think that's misguided, tho' an easy mistake to make.

Like I said, there's certainly some overlap - but nowhere near as much as you might expect. The best evidence of that fact were the Saints games played in Tiger Stadium. They barely filled the front rows of the stadium.

New Orleans is most certainly *not* filled with coon-asses, at least not historically. There may be a temporary surge of them with the rebuilding effort. New Orleans is more voodoo & debauchery... While outside of New Orleans you find Cajuns and blue laws.
