Smokey & the Bandit is on Universal HD right now. I've never been more happy about being trapped at home by the weather. :D

I was watching that last weekend and sent a message to a friend of mine about how excited I was. She claims to be a movie buff; yet, she admitted that she's NEVER SEEN THIS MOVIE!

So I sent her a DVD of it yesterday. :)

Smokey and the Bandit has the best plot ever. Their thirsty in Atlanta, and there is beer in Texarkana, and their going to bring it back no matter what it takes.

Also Jerry Reed is wildly underrated as a musician and an actor.

I don't think there's ever been a more fitting actor/singer to portray a long haul trucker than Jerry Reed.

He's the shizznit.

Without any influence from me, my 11 year old son just asked me if we could watch the Smokey and the Bandit DVD. What a kid.

Another good movie with Jerry Reed is Hot Stuff. Last I heard, it's not on DVD yet.

They've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there.

It's getting ready to come on again. I'm just sitting here drinking beers and killing time until 1:00 now. :D

Just got the special edition in the mail today. It's in the DVD player, and the beer is open. The downside is I wasn't expecting until Monday, so I didn't buy Coors.

I can't imagine it's as good as the song.

Fun Fact:Convoy the song was a collaboration between an Omaha ad man and the musicians that would become Mannheim Steamroller. Just another great Nebraska contribution to our nations culture.

I liked Convoy when I was a kid. But I had a thing for trucks because my grandpa drove one; there was also a TV series on around the same time that involved trucks.

Edit: Kris Kristofferson was in Convoy if I remember correctly.

Perhaps you are familiar with Paul Williams? He wrote a ton of songs like Rainbow Connection and was Little Enos Burdette.

Some people might toss out Marlon Brando and Fred Astaire as well. Or Nick Nolte, James Coburn, Henry Fonda, Alexander Payne, Daryl Zanuck, and the voice of Tony the Tiger. And Johnny Carson of course

Well, I've never seen it, but I've heard the song a few times.

Pig Pen, Rubber Duck, T Town, and a Chartreuse micro-bus...good stuff.

I heard a halarious trucker song on 93.3 a few years ago. It was greatness. But I only heard it one time, so I don't really remember any of the words or who sung it, etc. The only thing I recall is that the singer was talking real fast, almost rapping, and the pitch of his voice was like that of someone holding their nose. I know this is a longshot, but does anyone have a clue as to what I'm talking about? I'd love to hear it again.

I think your thinkn of MR Fries, who was the voice of cb mcall and Chip Davis and his studio group that did later become Steamroller.
