I don't think it is going to be as bad as anticipated or even half as bad as the storm in November. People are just freaking out when they hear the work "ice". People are acting like it is Y2K all over again.

I'm thinking 1-2 inches of ice would be much worse than the snow we had in early December and pretty much everyone is predicting that amount of ice....up here anyway. My only hope is the power doesn't go out.

my father in law sent me some pics from the ice storm in western nebraska

1/2 inch of ice is enough to bring down a lot of power lines.

I do too, but I spilled diet coke on it a long time ago, which made it sizzle and smell a little funny. Haven't tried to use it since.....

Last night I saw that the news predicted 0.25-1 inches of ice. I think it was Fox.

Oh, and as much as I wanted to see Gilbert Arenas, I think I'll stay at the house instead of going to the Hornets game. Even though I have a 4x4 which means I can drive as fast as I want anywhere I want.

The ice storm of 2000 left me without power for 18 days , No prob I fired up my genarator stocked up on beer and watched all the Bowl games :cool:
Course when I fist moved to the hill , I lived here for 2 an 1/2 years with commercial power at all . Still set up for not having any ;)

Oh, I've got the generator ready to go just in case. And no, I didn't buy a generator yesterday to be prepared. I have plenty of charcoal and a couple of gas stoves. No problem.

I remember that one, I was home for christmas. we were w/o power for 5 days, no water for about 3 of those. our house was one of the first to get power, because we are on the same line as the nursing home, which is priority in spiro. heh

Anyway, from my window, it looks like the ice storm ended at pretty much the exact instant we let the support staff leave.

I went to Hobby Lobby tonight and they were closed. An hour before they were supposed to be. And there were quite a few people out and about.

Someone told me that on Thursday night the lines at the east side Wal-Mart extended into the clothing section. People worry too much.
