Tulsa is a pigsty!!!!

I drive I-244 everyday to go to work and it’s disgusting!! There is trash all over the side of the road and it just looks horrible. One day there was a mattress and it was there for a couple days before someone finally got it off of the road.

Who lets crap fall out of the back of their truck and then just leaves it there?? Geez people, have a little pride, please. I’m embarrassed for anyone to come visit this place and see it.

I’ve been to Phoenix and Orlando in the past couple of years and neither place looked even a quarter as bad as Tulsa. I know they have more tourists and probably more money to pay people to pick it up, but damn… don’t leave your crap laying on the side of the road in the first place and no one will need to come pick it up!

So anyway… thanks for listening. I feel better now… at least until my drive home. Ugh. :(

I went down hwy 23 to I-40 a few weeks ago and out in the middle of nowhere was a queen size mattress laying on the side of the road came back 2 weeks later it was still sittin right there with the same hillbilly couple layin on it.:)

Yet another reason to never go north of Edmond (unless you are just passing through).

I concur......I-240 sucks here for some reason. The BA is okay, 44 looks alright but 244 is covered with trash. It's embarassing.

I'm surprised that there weren't a couple of OKC>Tulsa comments. Either you all are slacking or OKC is a trash dump too.

As much as I love God's Own State, the roadside trash is pretty disturbing. I can't believe littering is a that difficult habit to overcome.

I think its because the folks who live around 244 just don't care there is a trash laying around because they are either too old, too young, or too poor to care.

"Pride of place" is generally what leads to spiffy environs. This guy named Abraham Maslow would have us believe that if life's basic priorities aren't met, we tend to let a lot of stuff slide...like litter.

Whoa up there homey. Is it now the responibility of people who live along I-244 to pick up the litter that the rest of Tulsa and it's visitors throw there? Or do you know several old and/or poor people who live along I-244 that just litter like hell???

I don't think it is fair to put this on them, JMHO!

It's gotta be the kids. Those damned kids.

I lived in Newcastle for a few years. Twice a week, I had trash detail IN MY YARD. Usually beer bottles, but there was everything from newspapers to dead cats.

[sniff sniff HONK] R.I.P. Turk, you stinky little mess, you.

I tend to agree with Homey, though I'm not sure old people are to blame.

Newcastle is a trashy little town. But every morning at the stop sign, I could see God's Own Stadium on the horizon.

What I'm trying to say is areas stay spiffy when the folks who live in them raise hell if they don't. Poor folks don't usually raise hell about litter, and even if they do, city hall doesn't listen. As an aside, the messicans may also be contibuting to the problem. Ever been to Mexico?

OKC isn't off the hook. I was in Norman last June and we drove to the Bombing Memorial downtown and I was thinking the same thing on the trip....a lot of roadside trash and run down areas of town.

Hwy 169 isn't like that and neither is the BA. I'm wondering if the City has crews to pick up litter.....if they don't, they should because apparently the citizens don't give enough of a crap to not litter in the first place.

An example, and I don't know who has the responsibility on this, there was a car accident on the corner of the entrance to my housing edition. They get it cleared away and a couple of days later I notice the broken lenses from the tail light and blinker, various metal parts, various plastic parts pushed over into the grass. Well, it's still there and I don't think it's going to decompose anytime soon. If I owned the house on the corner, I'd pick that kind of junk up every day but I guess they just don't give a ****.

That's could be the tow truck guys fault, or a bad contract. Most municipalities have ordinances or contract clauses which require licensed tow truck operators to sweep that crap up before they move off with the wreckage.

Yep, gotta agree with that. Look at the streets on the west side of Tulsa. City does not care about those working poor to middle class people even a little bit. Really ****es me off as I grew up over there and my mom still lives there today.

I threw a beer bottle on I-244 last night... although I was careful enough to get it off the road so that no tires would be damaged. I feel it gives inmates something to do, and I'm all for letting them get out of their cell and breathe some fresh air.

I've yet to see them picking up **** on 244.

The trash problem is a general state-wide problem. There is a big problem around Ada and Norman on Interstate 35 heading south. Local county officials and DPS really need to crack down on this behavior and the state legslature needs to institute a program similiar to Texas anti-trash program.

I'm sure it's about 5% of the lower educated, lower class population that throws out trash or dumps their garbage in the countryside and along roadways but it's a real problem in Oklahoma.

I almost road raged some obese chicks from KS on I 35 one time around Purcell. They just rolled down the window and dumped a full bag from McD's!! As I pulled past them honking and flipping them off/cussing, the like, they just looked at me like I was crazy or stupid. I seriously wanted to run them off the road.

I saw a cool new sign the other day that said "Help Keep Oklahoma Grand!"

That's snappy...and it is also a homage to OUr song.

I toss all my empty beer cans
3 reasons
#1 i m less likely to get caught with an open container
# 2When I see flashing lights in front of me
# 3 when the dude in the backseat playing bartender, sees your arm go out the winder , he knows to hand you another :D
