This OU Basketball team is a lot like the Tubbs teams of the early 90s. They'll beat most of the bad teams they play but get blown out by the good to great teams. Hopefully they can pull off a couple upsets and make the NIT.

these guys need one quality road win to truly gain confidence. So far they have been way too prone to turnovers and poor shooting, especially when on the road.

The promising thing I did notice from last night's game was the transition scoring and actually having a couple of nice runs where the D was great and the offense clicked. If they can keep that up they will never be out of a game completely. Just gotta believe the shot is going to fall!

Thoughts from the game...

--Crowd was a tad bigger than I would have guessed, and while it was tomb-like for much of the game, the fans did show their appreciation for the hustle and effort the team was displaying.

--I really don't have much to say about this game. More of the same in terms of what we already do/don't know. OU is going to pretty much dominate any below average-bad team at the LNC. Our defense is superb and we hustle and crash the boards-- that spells disaster for poor teams aiming for an upset.

But we knew that already.

I'm holding out for more "test" games.....

IMO, we've had two so far.

1. Tulsa: We had beaten total dogs up until that point. I wanted to see us play a team similar to ours to see if our defense was for real. We passed.

2. Texas Tech. I wanted to see if we could "hang" with a decent, but not great team, on the road. We failed.

At Texas isn't a "test," because I don't view winning down there as a realistic goal at all-- I'd be surprised if we even make it close in the 2nd half. I hope we don't fall apart like we did at Tech, but there's only so much we can ask of this team right now.

Our next test will take place Wed. against Nebraska. THEN, I'll be able to tell you something.

Tad bit bigger? I heard that the announced crowd was right at 5,000 people. If that is true, that is just sad. And I don't want to hear the excuse that the students were not back in school yet.
