On a scale from 1 to 10.

1 sucks like a Ben Affleck movie. You just try to survive until your day off.

10 is like having a vacation every day. You can't wait to go to work.

Most days my job is about a 6-7. My colleagues and staff are very nice and I am in no way over taxed on the job. The pay is good. Decent time off. The biggest challenge is not getting too bored. I don't have to make personnel decisions. I control my schedule.

On certain weeks, like this week, a 1 rating is too high: Lots of call. I was afraid to answer my pages not knowing what disaster the page would bring. I've had call days this week worse than the call days I had in residency.

Is there such a thing as the perfect job? Do you know anybody who really enjoys their job so much they can't wait to go to work?

I' say a 6. I enjoy what I do, work with top-notch people whom I like, and have lots of nice benefits like telecommuting. I dislike the hours, stress level and (some) inane management decisions.

I've worked for a 10 before - but that lasted about three months before the entire group went kaput. :(

When I gave my notice I was gleaming with joy. Then the old boss says that I didnt have to stay for two weeks. I looked at him, said thanks, packed my desk and was gone within 20 min.

Started the current job the next day

7--Overall a very good place to work it could be a little higher but the plants job security is a little low. One of the things that makes my job so good is the fact that I get 7 days off out of 14.

8-10 most days. until i have to deal with the general manager, chef, or food and beverage manager - they're borderline retarded.

i can't complain when i come to a beautiful golf course and pro shop every day.

I would say around an 8-9. My job is relatively easy and never routine. The only downfall is that I work at a consulting firm, so I always have to keep track of hours and sometimes I don't have any work. On the brightside I have constant internet access.

The last year or so has been pretty rough. I hate working with our offices in Asia, and I hated the last project I was working on.

I'd have to give it a 4 right now. Hopefully things are looking up, I live too close to work to want to move.

Only reason I keep doing it is because it pays well and I am in a sheet load of debt thanks to student loans that I took out so I could perform this crappy job.

It's just my third day so I'm not sure. Today was better than either of the two previous days and I think it'll keep getting better until on-call week. That looks like it sucks out loud. Only have to do it one out of every eight of nine weeks though.

I'd say I'm at an 8. There are probably band directing jobs I'd enjoy better, but there damn sure aren't many of them. I love working with the rest of the staff, and the kids have good attitudes and work fairly hard.

9, but only because a 10 would be spending all day with you losers.
Oh wait, it IS a 10!

Seriously 9, and never lower than 7

My last job... Remember the famous picture of the last chopper taking off from the roof of the US Embassy in Saigon before the Reds rolled in? THAT is what I felt like after my last day working for that beyonce.

A strong 8-9. I get to work from home, set my own hours, set my own pay, and get to watch docs cut up people.

ITS AWESOME!

On a bad day its a 4-5 but only because someone else f's up and sends 18 pallets to another state instead of to the customer.

Good days - 5
Most days - 1 or 2

Good days I think: "Well, it could be worse."
Bad days: "Somebody shoot me, am I really still here."

It's not the pay, workload, or the boss (believe it or not). It's the general environment of the place (lot's of bitter young and old dead-enders that take joy out of making the workplace their personal soap opera) and the pace of work (lot's of hurry and wait, and dealing with bureaucratic bullcrap).

I'm currently working on my exit strategy. The question is: phased withdrawal or cut and run?

I have had the same job for 12 years, but have worked for 3 different companies (healthcare buy-outs or contract losses). Started out an 8. 2nd company a 7. New company (this past July), a 6 and diving fast. They brought everything back in house and don't have an idea how to run it. It's pretty bad when they start looking to me for answers!!! :D

Some days are better than others, but the pay is good, and the hours are good. The location sucks, but cost of living is low. When it's my turn in the barrel to take call for 7 days straight, it's a 2.

Cam
1/11/2007, 08:02 PM
New job it about a 7-8 right now. I actually get to sit at my desk and work all day and only have to worry about myself. I'm digging that.

The bad days it's a 3-4 simply because the idiots to the south, who pretty much have no clue what they're talking about, throw numbers at the executives that are nowhere near reality.

My last job was a 2, only because the pay was pretty damn good for what I was doing. Fixing mistakes of 2K other people succs in a major way. Even worse is wondering what kind of crap they're going to try next.

i've always felt that every american should have to either

A) serve two years in the armed services

OR

B) spend 6 months in a third-world country

i believe that option B might make us all rise our rankings and just be happy to have a job.

Overall, a 9. Job is easy for me. I actually work maybe 12 hours a month yet get a full months salary. I get time off for football games. (18 games this past season) Now I get to go to texass for 8 days for training on a new program which makes me more valuable in the marketplace at thier expense. Would be a 10 but my one associate had to leave because of a jealous husband.

Fan, I want to know if you won the jackpot?

My job varies with amount of contact I have with my boss. The less I see her, the better day I usually have. And if she talks to me, it is usually negative in content.
