The NC Game tonight was big in terms of Team of the Decade status.

...still no program with more than 1 crystal ball in the '00 decade.

Team of the Decade status still up for grabs....

Despite the recent losses in the BCS, OU is not out of that race for Team of the '00s.

Miami, USC, and Ohio St. have also lost a BCS National Championship Game this decade.

Oklahoma has the most wins (79) in the country in the '00 Decade.

Oklahoma has the highest winning % (.849) among BCS conference programs in the '00 Decade.

Oklahoma is tied (USC) for most BCS appearances in the '00 Decade with 5.

With 3 years left....

If Ohio St. had claimed their second crystal ball tonight...it would have been very tough to get back into it.

As it is now....we just need to have some pieces fall in the right place and make another run.

Should be interesting.

Say no to the visor from this point forward Bobby.

solid post, as usual.

lsu, usc, florida, and us (of course) have the best shot at gettin' another in the next couple of years.Florida will be hard pressed to win again...at least for the next two years. They about 14-15 starters this year and that could be worse depending on jumps to the NFL earlier. I agree about USC and us though. I think that Michigan will be loaded for next years run.

Arent we forgettng our evil neighbor too the South??
We are only like 2 or 3 wins or so ahead of them this decade...and we have equal losses..equal crystal balls...and they have a ton of talent returning next year too....so, the theme for next season is..

KILL TEXASSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The records this decade are...

OU: 79-14

Texas: 75-14

The difference in wins is b/c of the RRS results and the subsequent conference title game wins afterward.

Conference titles are 4-1 in OU's favor, we have a 5-2 advantage in BCS apperances, and many more individual award recipients (including a Heisman)....

but none of that would matter if they won another NC.

for sure

Your own post argues with you.

It's nearly impossible for either Florida or LSU to repeat, precisely because they happen to be in the same conference.

SEC teams don't become dynasties. The closest they've had was Spurrier's Florida, and even that team, which dominated the SEC for a decade, didn't manage more than 1 national championship.

they are also 4-1 in BCS games, we'd be in trouble if they hadn't sucked in 2000 and 2001

I will be happy when OU is dominating a great Big XII again. I don't like this mediocre Big XII.

I actually thought we were decent this year. Edit:Nevermind. We weren't. The BigXii is lousy this year, as shown by the bowl games. For some reason, I'd thought we'd done better this year.

I'm disappointed. No insanity-laced pictures of Jim Tressel like last time.

Notice that only one of the teams that has won this decade isn't located in one of those states. :D

But is Louisiana really considered one of the best football states? I wasn't aware.

OU, Miami and USC have to be the top 3 as each was basically one play away from having 2 NC's this decade.

1. Miami lost in 2002 largely due to the highly questionable pass interference call at the end.

2. Jason White baredly missed a wide open Kejuan Jones/

3. SUC couldn't stop Radio on 4th and forever.

The other 3 games weren't that close.

I thought ESPN already gave USC a 3-pete before the 05 Rosebowl?

Does it matter that USC's one crystal ball was "obtained" while its two best players were on the take?

Evidently not, but my biggest question is how many of their other players were on the take?:pop:

Miami's taken a dive the last couple of years and hasn't done anything worthwile so far in the latter half of the decade...Ohio St. might've overtaken them in the Top 3.

Either way, we'll have a chance to add to that dive in September.

The team of the decade comes down to if USC continues there 60-6 run the past 5 years 5 BCS Bowls 4-1 overall 4 Confrence Championships 12-1 average season or OU rekindles the magic they had from 2000-Dec 03 48-4 .923% 2 Confrence Championships 2 BCS Bowls 2-0 12-1 average season.

Hopefully Junior College QB Joey Hazle can be our Josh Heupel of 2000 starting his NC run in 07 and finishing in 08. Handing it off to RJr Sam Bradford, RSo Keith Nichol, 2008 Top HS QB RFr, 2009 Top HS QB Fr for the final year of this decade in 2009.

It's much to early to tell...
hell TOLEDO could go undefeated 3 years in a row and win it all and be considered the team of the decade. Highly unlikley, but still...alot can happen in 3 years,

As it stands...Texas is the biggest threat among NAtional Title winners as far as winning ball games is concerned as they are right behind us. It's up for grabs as far as national titles goes.

USC's 1st 2 seasons this decade kinda jacked them up..other than that they have been pretty darn good. In the last 5 years I think they are what 4-1 in Bowls? Texas is 5-1 in their last 6 too.

I disagree that OU was only one play away from the 2003 NC. Had White completed the pass to Jones, that would've only tied the score. We'd have had to have another score to have won. You're right on the others, though.

No cause we would've gone for two and used the Staue of Liberty play to win it all.

not really. lsu could win it all next year with a win over fla. and fla. could win in the following year with a win over lsu.

Lloyd Carr negates the fact that they are loaded.
