I just watched a video on youtube about the cat/dog killing farms in China. Makes me feel bad about my joke in another thread. Guys, you can't imagine how bad this video is...it is as bad as you can image. To see these dogs and cats being brutally tortured to death...it's not like they humanely kill them...no...it's slow and barbaric.

You know I'm on this drug called 'Sertraline' which deadens my emotions....except anger. Sometimes I have to remember that I need to have emotions, especially around my wife when she needs me. But this stuff really makes me callous. So you need to remember that when I say stuff, because I'm serious, but it's not really me (if that makes sense).

If bird-flu wiped out the population of China, I really wouldn't give a sh*t.

I'd be like, you know what, we are all better off as human fuc*ing beings.

different cultures have different ways of dealing with things. The way things are there, there isn't much room for a "Save the Animals" Humane Society setup like there is in the US. I won't watch a video about intentional killing of animals, but I also know that the pet population (and abandoned pets) problem over there is well....a lot worse than it is over here.

Apparently the Chinese Government hasn't found their Bob Barker to remind pet owners to spay or neuter their pets 5 times a week for 40 years.

Were is the video of the Chinese people starving and dying? It is easy to get emmotional over some cute pets, but the real problem is how the Chinese gov deals with its people, which I bet, is alot like that video.

I believe the CHICOMS are also responsible for far more of the "greenhouse" gasses going into the atmosphere than eminate from the United States, despite the fact we have far more automobiles. In fact, I doubt they have any air quality standards whatsoever.

I also understand this is the main reason the US is not a signatory to the Kyoto Treaty. IOW, we won't sign because there are numerous and unacceptably broad exceptions for the "developing" nations.

That may be an example of realpolitik simply because the treaty drafters apparently understood the developing world would refuse to limit its emissions because their low-tech industries would be severely limited, thus slowing these nations' advance. In the meantime, only "developed" nations are expected to observe the treaty, which seems kinda unfair.

I didn't watch the video clip. I don't think it would change my opinion, regardless of how terrible it may be.

I can't imagine that stray dogs would be used for either meat or skins. When I visited China about 20 years ago, the dogs in the meat market looked pretty well feed and healthy. I didn't stand around to watch them get slaughtered, but I imagine that they'd use the same process with pigs, cattle, water buffalo, etc.

I can go along with your outrage, though.

At the same time,I wonder what the Chinese would say about American culture if they are basing their opinions on common stereotypes and youtube videos.

I'm sure you could find videos filmed in the USA (and elsewhere) of dogfights, cockfights, and other animal abuses. I think it's dangerous to generalize so widely on the basis of limited data.
