SETTING THE STAGE: Oklahoma plays Arizona State in OU’s second game at the 2nd Annual Arizona State University Desert Classic tournament…The Sooners were lit up yesterday by the Phoenix Polar Bears in the first game by a score of 9-2…ASU played DePaul last night in the late game...The Sooners and Sun Devils played a pair of games earlier this season in Oklahoma City…Oklahoma swept both games in that series, winning by scores of 4-1 and 3-2…With those wins, OU’s all-time record against ASU is now 2-4-0.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: OU forward Adrian Borchgrevink and defenseman Mark Tylka were the only Sooners to score goals in yesterday’s game…The Sooners were 1 for 11 on the power play yesterday…Forward Kenny Deines suffered a knee injury in the contest against Phoenix and will not play today against ASU…Forward Jordan Novak will sit out today’s game to serve out the remainder of his game disqualification penalty…Defenseman Trey Snow returns to the lineup after sitting out yesterday’s contest…The Sooners are 38-13-3 all time in games played on Fridays and 7-7-2 all time in Friday games on the road…Late in the third period of yesterday’s contest, Sooners defenseman Robert Hetrick earned the first OU penalty shot of the 06-07 season, but his scoring attempt was turned away by the Phoenix goaltender.

ARIZONA STATE NOTES: The Sun Devils are coached by Mike De Angelis, a three-time member of the Italian Olympic hockey team…ASU is led in scoring by senior forward Ray Corey, who has 10 goals and eight assists for a total of 18 points in sixteen games this season…Corey is followed in scoring by senior forward Richard Ferroni (4-13-17), junior forward Joe Ahern (6-9-15) and freshman forward Trevor Van Conant (6-9-15)…Goaltender Kyle Bronsteen is ASU’s top netminder with a goals against average of 3.39 and allowing only 51 goals…ASU defenseman Tony Bonacorso was selected to the 2007 U.S. University Select Team that will compete in Torino, Italy later this month.
