"Fire in the Sky" 42" x 42"

fresh off the press, just finished a bit ago. the pic isn't the best due to the flash. I'll get a better shot of it tomorrow in some natural indirect light.

nice pitcher, but you should have done the "Gustav."

The Ju-87G had a pair of 37mm cannon mounted in pods under the wings and those things were devastating against Soviet tanks. The type earned the cool nicknames "Kanonenvogel" ("Cannonbird") and "Panzerknacker" ("Tank cracker"). You gotta love the Deutsch language!

Other than that, the crate was a flop after the Krauts lost air superiority. It didn't stand a chance against most Allied fighters.

Ju-87G "Panzerknacker"

BTW, happy to see you included the swastika on the vertical stabilizer. Modern model kits don't include it anymore because the swastika (even on model kits and in video games) is outlawed in much of Europe. Seriously.

Afterall, I'm sure if models and video images of historic aircraft which sported swastikas were manufactured with the symbol and distributed in Europe, Hitler would rise from his grave (WTF the Soviets buried his burned carcass) and lead a Nazi rebirth.

Check out these Politically Correct "Panzerknackern"

yeah Homey, I didn't do too much research on what plane I wanted to do. I just liked the angle on that pic.
I've also seen the breakdowns on the military channel on how they rate WWII aircraft and armor head to head. that was one devastaing cannon on the JU 87.

I'm no Nazi, but they had some pretty freakin cool stuff, visually that is.

I plan to do some infantry type stuff in the future, with perhaps a burning Tiger tank in the background.:)

What made the Tiger so bad? That 88 main gun was a freakin cannon.

Thank God the Germans never figured out how to mount an 88 gun on a Stuka. We'd all be fooked.

May I suggest the Panther? Best tank of WWII IMHO. The rule-of-thumb among Allied tank crews of Sherman-to-Panther ratio necessary for destruction of a single Panther was 5:1, or the same as with the Tiger. The Panther also had the superb 75mm main gun, probably the best tank main gun of the war.

Tigers were overrrated. Underpowered, too heavy, slow and prone to breakdown. Not one of Ferdinand Porche's best efforts.

yep, on that series I was talking about they showed how an allied tank could sneak up on a Tiger from behind and knock it out before it could get it's turret turned around in time.

the problem I have with watercolors is getting the numbers completely covered. I have just about mastered keeping them within the lines.

awesome, pic! ...how'd you do the background?
it originally looked like a Mark Rothko painting. then I turned it upside down and did some splattering with a large brush.
I used some yellow spray paint on the bottom part of the burst but it was very transparent. if you press the side of the button on the can just right you can get a nice sputtered effect.

portraits of people off the streets? you mean strangers or people who ask for commissions? or do you have an old lady on the other side of town?;)
