as I quit watching the Sugar Bowl at half-time, that I am truly burnt out on college football this year. Our loss in the latest "greatest game evar" has taken the wind from my sails. Sure, I'll have the 2 little bowl weekend games on TV as appetizers for the NFL playoffs, and I'll watch the BCS MNC game Monday night because . . . it's there. But I'll be going through the motions.
Anybody feel the same?
Maybe it's for the best, though. Maybe I won't miss football quite so much in the 6 or 7 long months between the Super Bowl and the first late summer college game of 2007, by which time I have faith that I'll be ready to go once again, rabidly backing the Sooners all the way, joyfully hating the usual suspects (LSU, tejas, Miami, ND, the SEC in general) and, for the first time, looking forward to somebody knocking Boise State back to earth, hard. And I hope it's somebody in the WAC, too; Schadenfreude, you know ;) .

I know what you mean. I know it was one of the greatest games ever and im not dissapointed in the Sooners about their play. I just hated losing they way we did. Boise st played great and OU did a great job comming back.

The Hook and Ladder and Statue of liberty plays will be something I will never forget.

It just sucks that we come up short in whats being called the greatest game ever now.

The 2006 Sooners shall ever be known as the "Cardiac kids".

I'm just tired of all the Boise bandwagoners...saying that they are better than OU, Boise has been my second favorite team since 99 and I still feel livid about this whole deal.

I will let off on the ColFB for some time too...

TU is right.
But, it is not just this last game.
All year long we have had nail biters. Moreso than I can remember.

The Oregonagonnascrewusonthereplay game,
the aTmhopefranscrewsitupagain game,
the LosuRaresuch*******stheycouldbeatus game,
and theBoisewerejustbetterthanyoutonight game
have taken a toll on my heart this year.

I just am exhausted, and actually glad that this season is over.
Im getting too old to be watching the "cardiac kids" anymore. I need a season or two of 30-40 point victories with one or two close games. Followed by a blowout bowl game kinda like LSU had last night.

I need a rest from football. OU is through playing for the season. The Bucs were through in September (they caused me no stress at all this year, God bless em). I think I'll go take an 8 month nap.

I still have the Saints to agitate me for a while, but I do know exactly how you feel.

How about this:

Of course, I am an A&M fan ... and we know what happened in the Holiday Bowl

I am also a Michigan fan (father in law and all of that) and you all know what USC did to them.

And, of course, I am a Sooner fan (dad was class of 74) so I topped off my wonderful bowl season with the BSU loss.

You all think you're worn out!!!!!

But, I'll be ready for 2007 ..... one word and thought that will cover both the OU and A&M fan in me that will fire me up for september ..... MIAMI!!!!!!!

Hopefully my Ags and the Sooners can deal those guys a goodd "1 ... 2" punch in back to back weeks.

Yes, I am having the same feelings. Don't forget that we are Big 12 Champs, however. There were a few good things to hang on to from the season, like beating the Ags and Aggies on their home fields.

Hurry up Spring practice!

I guess this feeling can be likened to getting through a long and emotional relationship with a girl with the greatest *** known to man, just to end it and realize you are burnt out and can't watch that much porn while you get over her...right? If so, I am with you, emotionally, I have nothing to offer now that this season is over, until I gather my strength for next season, that is.

I'm curious to see how the National Championship game will play out. It will be interesting to watch their moves, in case we play either one of them next season. I'm rooting for Florida because it would be amusing to see if the TV jocks have a meltdown when a team with a loss is crowned the National Champions over an undefeated Boise State. :D

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't agree more. This year took a lot out of me and at the end i even had a hard time getting excited about the Fiesta Bowl. I think the way this year went down and all 85 of the bowl games that we have now would take a toll on a lot of people.

The funny thing is by the end of Feb. i'll be ready for CFB again!! :D

I thought I was the only one doing this! I had Fox on for *maybe* 10 minutes last night, which translates into about 45 seconds of football. . .and that's it for me since Monday night. I honestly don't even know who won the game on Tuesday night. . .guess I should look sometime.

May watch MNF because it is there. . .but like others, I'm played out.

But I'll be wired up tight when September gets here. . .8 months and 4 days until Miami comes to Norman.

How can the Saints agitate you? If they can just find their way to the dome in January, it's a bonus given the normal state of affairs.

Well, I used "agitate" (and not aggravate) to mean either good excitement or bad excitement. :D
