View Full Version : Throwing away...audio cassettes

There are a bunch of audio cassettes stored in the closet of the littlest.

I just took out the first bunch of them to look at and pitch tonight. Of course I start with the hardest boxes. Lots of samplers from a defunct music mag called new route along with some interview tapes and just some bizarre stuff that will never be released that way again.

In the end, 85% of it will be stuff I recorded from vinyl or cd. Ah, the art of the mix tape.

[high fidelity]The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don't wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules.[/high fidelity]

I remember buying metal cassettes because of the sonic range and longevity. I've got a killer akai auto reverse that will end up going to the next charity that calls.

Some of you audiophiles may remember the superiorness of the Japanese pressing of albums. Well here is a weird one.

A Japanese cassette. It has a cardboard sleeve, hard plastic sleeve and liner notes.

I still have dozens of audio cassettes of stuff I taped off the radio in the '80s and early '90s that I haven't listened to in years.
Now that you mention it, maybe one of these nights I'll break them out.

I just started the task of converting my cassettes to mp3. I'm tired of looking at them in my garage.

I think Bread and Neil Diamond would have been more likely found on 8-track and vinyl.

Now I want to take a picture of my cassette case, which used to live under the armrest of my 1978 Buick Regal Grandsport TURBO (only the previous owners had the turbo removed because it caused problems).
